I found this fix in in one of the other forums:
1. Copy the folloing lines into notepad (don't forget to include the PSL line at the top):
PSL
27920-27932
27933-27945
27946-27958
27959-27971
27972-27984
27985-44286
44287-44299
1834110-1899645
2371592-2371604
2371605-2371617
2371618-2371630
2371631-2371643
2371644-2371656
2371657-2371669
2371670-2380535
2380536-2380548
4169752-4169821
4169840-4169909
2. Save this as any filename and extension.
3. Put Little Black Book into your DVD ROM drive.
4. Start DVD Decrypter 3.5.1.0
5. Under "File" select "Protected Sectors List" then import.
6. Browse to where you stored the above mentioned text. If an error appears make sure the is no space after the letters PSL in the first line.
7. Decrypt you movie and enjoy.

Thanks for the news on AnyDVD! It worked without a hitch. After messing with this problem for about a week, I luckily stumbled across this forum. Thanks again.

Sup Fellas .. .
So ive followed along with this thread and am part way through ripping my copy of RE2 to back it up with the psl file and it seems to be going smoothly.
I plan after the .iso is transferred to use DVD Shrink and then burn using Sonic Record Now . . . wish me luck
My further question goes along with Garden State . . . im haveing the same cyclic redundency error with it as i did with RE2 and im curious as to if there is a PSL file out yet for it - ive tried vobblanker and it messed up or something because i couldn't shrink it afterwards . . . please advise because assuming my RE@ backup goes smoothly my next challenge will be Garden State
Are these types of issue something to be expected in the future? Is this the new wave of protection?
Get back to me when you can . . . thanks mucho

Use AnyDVD.
To date it breaks every encryption.
The same goes for DVDD.

Any idea on how to USE AnyDVD? It doesn't have a "help" section. I double click on the .exe and it gives me a window with a bunch of information, I click OK. It gives me another window with some different information, I click OK. It goes away, it doesn't burn anything.
So I go back to DVDShrink, and it still stalls with the Cyclic Redundancy crap. I recently purchased Smallville Season 1 and can't back it up. Also, I've only had a problem so far with "The Forgotten"
I've read this entire thread so far and have no idea what is meant by "unreferenced material" in the beginning of the thread. I downloaded vobblanker and have no idea what I'm supposed to do with that. Now I've downloaded AnyDVD and still don't know what to do.
Can anyone please provide me with instructions? Thanks.

Mapleman....AnyDVD runs in the backgroung, you don't do anything with it. Try DVD Decrypter then Shrink. Set Decrypter to ISO then open files with Shrink. Works most of the time with these tough DVDs

as long as you continue to sit there and continue do nothing you'll still have no idea ~
should the day ever come that you actually do something then everything will make sense

yeah, i have no idea what you mean by that, scuba. anyway, the problem i was having was that the disc was already in, i kept double clicking on AnyDVD and it kept saying the protection was removed, but at 50%, dvdshrink kept getting the cyclic thing. anyway, in frustration, i took out the DVD and inserted a different one and i saw how it worked.
for any as confused as i initially was, i just had AnyDVD installed, opened DVDShrink, inserted the disk and then AnyDVD pops up and does its thing. click OK when it's done, then run shrink as normal.
so far I have been able to back up every single disc for Smallville on Season one EXCEPT disc 1. even with AnyDVD working exactly the same way it did on discs 2-6, i get the cyclic error on disc 1 and none of the others.
so, to sum up, to date, AnyDVD will fix everything everyone's mentioned so far EXCEPT Smallville season 1 disc 1.
thanks for your time and help so far. i really appreciated the seatwarmer comments. i'll figure out what they mean when i have time to devote to that.
so far i've downloaded VOBblanker (still haven't used because i haven't figured out how), DVDShrinker, and AnyDVD. if i really have to get DVDdecoder or whatever it's called, just to backup smallville s1d1, i guess i will try that.

Hi Everyone,
I had the same problems trying to back up those same movies the solution to the problem is AnyDVD. Download this program and try it out for your self. It is a trial version of the program which will simplify things unlike decryptor once you put your dvd in the anydvd will come up telling you that it has detected all of the errors then click continue after that go to shrink or dvdxcopy and copy with a problem.

OK, I got AnyDVD and was able to "removed RCE protection" on my Smallville Seasons 1-3 and burn them using DVD Shrink. thing is, now i try to watch them to verify everything's ok, and they all, every single one, at about the same time start Skipping like the DVD is scratched or the original was scratched and burned that way.
thing is, there are no scratches at all. is it possible AnyDVD allows you to start the burn process, but the copyprotection still manages to screw up the burn process? guess i gotta throw away these 18 DVDs. i'd be interested in hearing your theories and what not.

smooth88, mapleman, jessey ,
It sounds like you should be using DVD Decrypter then DVD Shrink. By using DVDD and AnyDVD to rip you may be able to put your DVD's to your HD then pick it up with Shrink using "File," then "Open disc image"
When using DVDD - rip it using ISO Read Mode. follow the settings in my guides listed in my sig.
As for those things mentioned in "Backup" you won't find anything until you get that far.
As far ad VOBBlanker, it isn't hard. Read my notes about ARccOS encryption tips.

OK I found that with scratched discs and cyclic redundancy errors you might want to slow things down. I found a way to do it with DVD Decrypter. In the DEVICE tab of the settings look to the bottom right. There is a check box that says Set Read Speed check it and then change the read speed to 1X in the drop down box. Mapleman you might want to try to slow down your burn. You might be causing the errors b/c of your speed.

Thanks ScubaPete
I have been trying to make a backup of Shaun of the Dead for 3 days, and that sony aRcoSS or whatever, has been a bxtch to get past, or Jumping Jack boy as you reffered in an earlier post.
The movie shaun of the dead did not have "Title 1 menus" But it had VTS 1 or something, and in two places under the Unreferenced materials materials i you click on them, and then click play down at the bottom, you can see Jumping Jack boy looping over and over, so I just changed these to a still image and finally dvdshrink didn't crash.
Just an FYI for anybody else trying to copy this, i was running latest build of AnyDVD and i could rip it with DVD Decrypter, but still, after i ripped it and opened it with dvdshrink it would not do it, still crashed. Just a FYI, and thanks again scubaP

Jess,
For problems Ripping, go to that title in my sig and use DVDD in the ISO mode to your HD then DVD Shrink - file - open image file, then process as usual and all should be fine.
I use that formula whenever I am backingup series type DVD's.
Cheers,
Pete

dont replace anything.
try file copy (which tries to read the damaged or dodgy data a hundred times more than most progs), then use DVDShrink on the files on the HDD, and if file copy still says CRC, then download CDCheck
http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/cyclic-redundancy.html which will replace the missing data. DVD's are crap, as a single missing zero or one will cause the whole thing to CRC stop, but this combo has allowed me to backup all DVDs so far which have failed due to CRC. (i do about 20 a week and one is allways dodgy)
enjoy.

Rather than say DVD's are "crap" we usually say that many DVD's are not made to the quality standards necessary to do Video backup work. We have done quite a bit of work and research in order to identify those discs that work well for our type of work. You can find it in my sig
By using a decent quality disc you'll find CRC errors hardly ever happen. I haven't had one in better than 6 months and I backup quite a few discs - as many as 8 or 9 discs a day ~
Here's a short version:
Eliminating errors and going for the "Best burn" ~ Tips ~
When attempting to achieve the best burn, consider reducing that burn speed to the 4X level. Iffin you have a new 16X, DL burner, you'll probably do well at 6X. It is my feeling that 8X and over leads to occasional coasters, even when using top grade stuff such as Verbatim DataLife Plus media.
The second part of the solution is to always use a decent grade media. I suggest something like those discs made by Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Mitsubishi or RICOH. Unfortunately, they are also the discs most plagued by pirate Mfgrs. and for that reason I like dealing with Mertline, Supermediastore OR Newegg who have a great return policy on their products. I have had great luck with RiData and Verbatim DataLife Plus discs and their prices are extremely reasonable. As a passing note, when buying Verbatim's, they come with a lifetime warrantee. Return them with your sales slip OR register receipt and a new one will be shipped to replace it.
For the best online media stores to shop, try -
Mertline.com
http://meritline.com/
Newegg.com
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-132-344&depa=0
And,
Supermediastore.com
http://www.supermediastore.com/media1.html
Shopping around can prove worthwhile - Staples, as of this date, offered HP +R DVD's (LQQked them up in MediaMatch and they are made by Mitsubishi) for $18.00 per 50. Verbatims were on sale for $22.00 for 100 a fortnight past -
again, Check my sig for extensive information on DVD discs (some interesting stuff on "Memory Loss")
Cheers,
Pete

I am trying desperately to back up one disk of a 4 DVD disk set of the TV series Monk Season 1. I have tried DVD Shrink, 1Click DVD and even tried the latest version od DVD decryptor. I have read many of the suggestions here but end up getting either a CRC message or some other reason why it cannot continue after getting about 50% complete. Anyone having the same problem? I would appreciate the help!

It does seem stupid to have to re-post this for you as it is only the 3rd post up BUT as you cannot be bothered to read the thread you're posting to - here it is just for little ole' you,

Thanks Scuba Pete! You are obviously the expert and that would make "little OL' me" the newbie. Your advice is great and it does help a lot! However, one might think that from your reply you knew that I only spent a few moments looking for a solution to my problem. That would indeed make me one of the lazy ones. In fact I had spent many moments.........some might even say hours trying to correct this problem. The internet is a big place and as luck would have it I found your site quite by luck but after trying many other postings. So if I might make a suggestion Scuba from one who does a lot of teaching of cognitively challenged individuals to another. Take it easy on us newbies if you please! Just like you, we all had to start at the beginning!
Thanks again for the advice and this is a great site!
