The pagefile settings (In XP) are in Start>My Computer>View System Information>advanced tab> performance. You can do a search on Microsoft's website on setting the pagefile. I found with DVD Shrink, you NEED it set as HIGH as the system will allow.

As I said, set it as High as YOUR system allows. This depends on several factors including how much RAM you have, etc. Doing so will prevent memory errors using DVD Shrink, as this program seems to be very memory intensive.

I can set it up to 4092, but have it set to 2046. As I said ... it depends on the system.

I didn't want to steal them, I just wanted to download movies I already own :).

You don't need decrypter for that one, if you run anyDVD then shrink will do it just fine.

Flip, do you know of any way That "The Forgotten" & other Tri-Star DVD's with the NEW encrption can be backed up using ONLY DVD Shrink & Nero? I mean, wothout using DVD Decrypter first? I KNOW that works. But is very time consuming. Thought I would ask if you know a way & settings to rip Forgotten using DVD Shink, bypassing DVD Decrpyter? If you know, please reply.

OK Flip, one question about AnyDVD. Does it "automatically" run while using DVDshrink? Or, would I need to insert my movie in drive, then run AnyDVD first? If I understand the AnyDVD correct, it's a driver & runs as soon as movie is loaded in drive. Please answer this for me. Thanks Flip!

just make sure AnyDVD is running. It runs in the background. By default AnyDVD is set up to auto start and is enabled.

You'll see the fox ... then just use Shrink like you normally would.

It starts up when you start up the computer. You really don't have to do anything but DVD Shrink after you have installed anyDVD

So, Flip, my pagefile only goes up to 1528 (or somewhere in the 1500s). Is there any way to get this up higher or is that it because I have a crappy computer. Dell Inspiron laptop 600MHz Centrino CPU, 512 MB RAM. Using DVD Shrink, I get the memory error at 47% with like 1658 MB in buffer and only like 380 MB in destination folder. I already ripped the movie with DVD Decrypter. Tried reauthoring just Title 1, same error. Title 2, same error. Tried full disc with the extras as a still image, same error. Any ideas?

@squizzle,

I wouldn't know how to exceed the max setting, or if it's even possible. Best thing to try is upgrading your ram.

You know all these people in here rent movies and copy them. Who would make backups of their own movies? Seriously. I borrow from friends and rent to burn. I also use winmx (http://www.winmx.com) and d-load divx (.avi) movies all the time.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I finally got it to burn. I had to reauthor (I got both titles) and change the start frames to where the Columbia logo appears.

Hi all
I backed up The Forgotten with AnyDVD4.5.6.1 & CloneDVD2.6.2.3 and it came out perfect. Or have AnyDVD running in the back ground and back up with DVDshrink that should work also. I had mine done that way.

Flip218 is correct on this when ever possible!
If you would like to raise your paging file settings just do the following under XP:
"Short version"
Left Click "ONCE" on My Computer to highlight it.
Right click on "My Computer"
Left Click on Properties
Left Click on Advanced Tab
Left Click on Performance Settings
Left Click on Advanced Tab under Performance Options
@ Virtual Memory, Left Click on Change
Raise it to a level you are comfortable with.

Note: Many say that your PC will perform better if you set Initial size (MB) to the same as Maximum size (MB) since this will not constantly change the size on your HD, accessing it several times with size changes. Since I have two HD's, my secondary is where I use the paging file Virtual Memory and even though I have 1 Gig of PC3200, mine is set at 1536 MB.
