You really can't go to wrong with the Fuji's
Fuji film ? Manufactured by Taiyo Yuden, MCC, Ricoh Japan, Prodisc, Fuji Film all fairly good manufacturer's with MCC and TY probably being the best out there right now.

Just had to backup my backup of the Incredibles (the original got stepped on by the grandkids). Used a TY GO1 got from supermedia and it came out fine. The first backup was done on Fuji and is fine. I have no complaints about Fuji, and you can usually get a good deal on them from the local Bestbuy. This is my first experience buying online, and using TY so far I am not displeased.

The thing is, there are so many variables. Burner make. Burner speed. Media 'quality'. +R or -R. Burning software. DVD player.

It's possible El Cheapo blanks burned with your burner at 4X with your software played on your DVD player will be fine, but those same copies will not play on someone else's player.

Your primary focus should be compatability with DVD players .. because you will be getting new players down the road and you don't want any suprises, so test your results on as many players as possible.

For me the BenQs (Daxon) are the perfect blank. They are half the cost of my TYs and Verbatims, they burn at the same quality scores, the 8X blanks burn at 16X (TYs and Verbatims not as consistent for me that way, sometimes they burn just at 12X), they play on every player without fail (several I have plus friends, relatives, etc), and zero coasters.

So do some investigating and settle in with whatever works for you.

The best way to assure your backups will play in a majority of set top players is to buy a dvdrw drive capable of bitsetting (pioneer will not and NEC requires modified f/w) and booktype all your backups dvd-rom (will only work on +r/rw media).
