@lickya

That red speedometer icon when it's loading means that it's switching to the other layer (or trying at least). Is this an original you're playing? If so and you're using a modchip you'll probably have to disable it. For mine it's done by holding down the power button for like 5 seconds when you turn it on. If this is a burn you're trying to play the only thing you'll be able to play with it is frisbee :)

hey,

just wanna know if any1 has the PAL version of GT4 n wether its DVD-5/9. Just curious cuz sumtimes NTSC n PAL release differs in size. If it is DVD 5 n then all u ppl from US could apply the PAL-NTSC patch n wudnt have no problems.

my bad if this has been mentioned before.

Hi Everyone, this is my first post cause i finally bothered to get a acount here, even though i've been reading forums on this site for quite some time now,

but anyway i just wanted to say that i am very interested in the fight for GT4, and i have tried using DVD Decrypter and as most of you prolly know dosent work, as it says there are to many sectors,

Got my GTA4 burn copy to work
Made an iso with dvd decrypter
Extracted it with isobuster
Used CDVDGEN to split it... put it all in order
and added a patch txt (ieu24.txt) to it get it at
http://loaded.oier.com/weastein/loliter/gta4/ieu24.txt
Split it into sectors (.000 .001 etc)
Merged it into an ISO
then burned it with Alcohol 120%
and it works great
little slow in some areas that arent' slow in the ACTUAL disk... but it works

try it if u understand

ok...i don't know what the talk is about OTP/PTP is,this is what decryptor gave me..
PIONEER DVD-ROM DVD-120 1.22 (ATA)
Current Profile: DVD-ROM

Disc Information:
Status: Complete
Erasable: No
Sessions: 1
Sectors: 2,763,936

Time: 614:14:36 (MM:SS:FF)

Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
Book Type: DVD-ROM
Part Version: 1
Disc Size: 120mm
Maximum Read Rate: 10.08Mbps
Number of Layers: 2
Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP)
Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit
Track Density: 0.74 um/track
First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608
Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 1,819,007
Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0

Layer Information:
Layer 0 Sectors: 1,622,400 (58.7%)
Layer 1 Sectors: 1,141,536 (41.3%)
i didn't use decyptor to burn.
i used game cloner, this is what it gave me..
size..5.27 GB (5,660,848,284 bytes)

size on disc..5.27 GB (5,660,852,224 bytes)
i tried burning it with game cloner, but i ran into trouble at 4% of burning for 2hrs,but what i did notice is there is an orange disc on top left hand side,it was slowly changing color, even though it was hanging at 4%..after 2 hrs i didn't like the orange light staying on(now whether thats the way game cloner deals with dual layer discs i don't know)i cancelled the write, this in turn bought back the red light, the program asked to wait for abortion of burning proccess,i put it in to the PS2 for interest sake,it loads up to the screen we all dread, where it goes black, but listening to the PS2 it seemed as if it wanted to keep loading,i'm assuming it wouldn't load past that screen because that was the 4%(i can only hope :)...) i'm out of dl media now :(
so if anyone else wants to give it a go,lets us now how you went,or if someone else has used this software(game cloner)let me know,so i don't waste any more time on it,thnx

ppl, its as simple as this as this at the moment, ps2 CANNOT play a burnt dual layer game (forgotten the reason) ONLY pressed ones (e.g. originals).

Ive heard bout DMS 4 making some sort of upgrade for their chip that allows u to boot DL games that you have backed up, as far as I no that will be the only way to play it via a disc.

i have a 4.9gb iso downloaded of gt4, is there any way i can extract useless bits such as fmv or audio to get it down to a size that will fit on a single layer disc?

or is there a way to split the iso onto 2 seperate single layer discs?

if thats the case mate, the game wouldn't boot at all with a dual layer disc(copied)now what i have found with my b/up is it hangs like everyone elses, but when i eject, put the original back in to let it load,i then eject and put my b/up back in and away it goes again, until the next level,I.E when you finish a race or watch your replay.so i think that would be some kinda check i presume...don't know...but any hoo my b/up works in conjunction with my original...so therefore indicating to me that the PS2 can read burnt/copied dl media

but doesnt that mean the ps2 reads the DL media as a standard DVD thus needing the original DVD to carry on with the game so in a way its still a DVD5 even tho u have burnt it on a DL disc.

so i guess im still wrong tho cuz the burnt version wouldnt even load 2 that point 2 change it with the original.

My bad

no worries :) it's an assumption we all made at first, but finding out exactly why it won't boot from the first credits is what we are all trying to work out,IMHO i don't think it has anything to do with OTP/PTP,most likely need a patch but not for that reason...thats only my opinion though... i could very well be wrong

[QUOTE]PS2s can read factory pressed dual layer DVDs because their structure is different than burnt DL DVDs. For pressed ones, the laser reads from inside to outside on both layers. For burnt DL discs, the laser reads inside to outside for top layer, then outside to inside for inside layer. This confuses the PS2, which is why there is no luck with DL DVD+R. The good news is DL DVD-Rs are soon coming onto the market, although I don't think its been announced of its structure yet, so even those may not work.[QUOTE]

Well then if that is the case why cant u get the second layer of gt4 cause that is the layer that stuffs up reverse all the files so it reads them in the right order then burn it on a DL DVD+R? im not sure if this will help anyone! but what the hey
