Explains everything on DNAS,

Ok these are certain websites I have found that help explain how things work.. I have played certain games online with HDloader.. Through patching...
Some people claim it works for them some say it doesnt, like I said certain games have worked for me.. Eventually just as technology increases and it will.. it will be easier to by pass DNAS checks...

I've tried playing several HDD games with Kai, a tunneling program that lets you play online with LAN enabled games. Now I know DNAS has nothing to do with LAN, but when I try to connect to Kai with my PS2 HDD games, I can only get ATV Offroad Fury 2 to work.

The others tell me that there is no Network Adaptor connected to my PS2.

I know the problem with playing the HDD games online with HDA/HDL has nothing to do with DNAS when dealing with LAN gaming. So I beleive it has something to do with HDA/HDL. Not DNAS.

I have about 6 LAN supported games backed up on my PS2 and about 50 LAN supported games backed up on my Xbox. All the Xbox games work with Kai, and only one PS2 game works with Kai.

So I'm sure the problem lies with HDL/HDA, now we need to get around this problem, then deal with the DNAS later.

I think the problem lies with the HDA version you are using. Grab the patches for them and use your flip top to swap them in. You may notice it gets you farther that way.

Its weird though because I have run original versions of hdl and patched versions and have never got an error saying my network adapter is not availible. I would always at least make it to dnas. Then my mod chip would get detected and I would be out of luck.

Ok so we are sure we know its probabley a problem with hdl/hda and nothing to do with dnas, yes dnas will create problems later but im confident that wont be to much of a hurdle.

so now our attention needs to turn to finding some patchs for hdl/hda, ive been searching all day with no luck.
so if anyone finds anything of any use, i would really appreciate a heads up.

so for now the search continues.good luck peeps

Personally, I think there should be a better way of playing backed up games on a PS2/HDD.

I mean come on, HDL/HDA creates a partition on the drive for each individual game, what the hell is that all about?

It would be nice if you could just put the files in folders on one partition, then you would have true FTP access to the games, most of our current apps would be able to access the games, and I think it would be a more stable environment.

There is a shortage of decent apps for the PS2. I hate to compare systems here, but come on... the Xbox has like 10 different loaders that can access media, the web, launch games, homebrew, and most of them can be customized. It seems like were limited to what the PS2 can do, because of the way the HDD is used.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Open notepad

make it say this

BOOT2 = cdrom0:\HDLFPP.ELF;1
VER = 1.00
VMODE = NTSC

and ONLY that. Then click "SAVE AS", change the "TYPE" to all files. Then call it

SYSTEM.CNF

Burn that and your .elf to a CD. then throw it in your ps2. It will load it right up.

I am not sure if you deserve this but you may also try this

http://members.shaw.ca/PS2_BOOT_CD/index.htm

I am pretty sure BOTH my version of HDL work online, or at least it will get you to DNAS. I will go check now if it works. then let you know. My wife just rearanged the living room though so I dont know if she unhooked the TV and stuff when she moved it.

ok, heres the scoop.....

Burnout3 Takedown, running off the hdd. I used MY DVD9 patched HDl version from the link I just gave you. Press select on the game to go to the mode settings. Go to the bottom and hit "LAN ENABLED". press select to exit out and then press X to launch the game.

I go to online play, I tell it to use my default PS2 network settings. It says "looking for IP", then it shows me the DNAS screen, then I get an error.

-880

Nothing about a missing network card.

IF this game was patched with a DNAS patch I am sure I would be online with the game right now. But as I already said I use a mod chip to run my version of hdl and I do not have a swap magic or slide card. So thats all the help I can be. Who knows I may even get online if I could just run it without my mod chip. But I cant dissable it after I am booted into the system

Just double checked what -880 actually is and this is it

-880 or -881
PS2 hardware incompatibility.

Since you tend to not beleive me here is the link I got it from

NOW, I think I have proved myself more than I should have been expected to. I will accept apoligies in public on this thread, or cash the form of a MAJOR donation to my website.

Thank you very much.

no problem.

Download my cd and it will all workout fine for you.

Part of the reason for error 880 may be because of the hdd. I know I get that for my mod chip, but if I dissable it you may still get it. That error is for a hardware conflict. so the hdd may be included in that.

But at least you can play your non DNAS games this way.

ive just tried this suggestion

Open notepad

make it say this

BOOT2 = cdrom0:\HDLFPP.ELF;1
VER = 1.00
VMODE = NTSC

and ONLY that. Then click "SAVE AS", change the "TYPE" to all files. Then call it

SYSTEM.CNF

Burn that and your .elf to a CD. then throw it in your ps2. It will load it right up.
but instead of my hdloader.elf, i tried the hdloader.elf in the all in one file. just to see if the same thing happened when i tries mine.

well when i put it in the ps2 the drive started to spin like mad.???
well it slate im tried and really had enough for one day, ill be back at it tommorrow, arh sunday the day of rest.lol

Make sure you are using a mod chip or swap magic to boot it up.

Also you need this line

BOOT2 = cdrom0:\HDLFPP.ELF;1

To read whatever the name of the .ELF file is you are trying to boot up. So if you used my HDL from my site then you need to change the "HDLFPP.ELF" to "STINKYS_DVD9_HDLOADER.ELF"

Sometimes in my PS2 it will start spinning like crazy as well. Just shut it off and retry it and it should work. I think its my mod chip throwing a spasm of some sort more than anything.

Thenm opened Nero,selected make a data cd.
then selected the system.cnf and HDLPPF.elf
dragged them over and hit burn.

then loaded swap magic 3.0cd then swapped with the newly burnt cd and hit x.

well this is mad, there is no reason why it shouldnt work, arrrgh.
could you go over the burning settings in Nero,that can be the only reason none of the burnt cd's are working.

I am wondering what the pink and blue screen is you are seeing? You mean the one that says "please insert a a PS2 format disc"? Or a different one?

what country are you in? Maybe that is making a difference.

Also do you have a DVD burner? If so try it in DVD mode instead.

Otherwise I dont know off the top of my head what burner settings I run for it. You may need to use CDGEN to make an image file, actually NO, scrap that....... You are using swap magic??

Grab the DUMMY.BIN file from my boot cd as well and drop that in there. Swap magic is stupid about botting homebrew cds in the format I told you. Once you put that DUMMY file on the cd I bet it will load right up for you.

But I would ditch the .ELF file you downloaded and just burn my whole Cd onto a disk and try running that. I know that one works with swap magic AND mod chips in the format it is in.

Also noticed you changed your vmode to PAL? is that coz you are not in the US or Canada? I would try putting it as NTSC anyway. SOmetimes that will make a difference. Especially since I have got emails from people in Africa, europe, Australia and japan that are using my CD and none of them changed the boot mode and it works on their systems. I am not totally sure what that mode is really for. Especially since the PS2 will default to the vmode the system itself is locked to.

im in the uk, you say to place a dummy file in aswell as the hdloader and the system.cnf.

but im thinking your cd contains a dummy file and that still didnt work.

all i did with your cd is burn with Nero and boot with swap magic.
cant understand why it doesnt boot.
