you just mentioned what song you were listening to and so did I. Korn isn't rap but they do have a rap twist to them and they are a great band.

no, korn doesn't need to pick a way; by doing that, they're just blending in to all the other stereotypical metal bands. by doing different genres of music (and doing them well), they can stay on top, stay in the media, and stay fresh. death to a group only truly comes when they fall into the monotony of one type of music, over and over-a repeitition to the grave.

korn didn't put themselves there, but yahoo did. as people always do, they have categorized korn to make them fit a predetermined view.

true, when korn first came out, they wanted to be just metal. they hit the world with down-tuned, 7 string guitars and brought about nothing short of a revolution in death metal, spawning hundreds of copycat groups; but, after their first album, they expanded, creating some music with a more acceptable, classic rock-esque beat, yet also more deep, driven bass-type tracks as well as rap and even alternative beats. if anything, they continue to contradict what everyone seems to want them to be.

and you won't see me running out to pick up a country CD any time soon, either :) i do admit, a blend tends to be an acquired taste, but it still can be just the thing for different moods.
