hmnnn...these DVD-R SONY08D1's don't seem to be nearly as good as the TY's, or for that matter, the MCC003 Verb's...wish they would have had some of the TY +R's at bestbuy, but then I got away with the last 4 25pks of TY +R Fujis.

I am thinking about taking these SONYs back at another BB and seeing if they have some SONY mij TY's to exchange for...

What is booktyping and how do u do it?

i have the Pioneer 109 Dvd burner?

it's not possible w/ normal firmware by pioneer, to actually BOOKTYPE (meaning changing DVD+R format disc to dvd-rom format for higher compatibility) requires a few steps that will void your warranty AND if done improperly could FRY your drive...to actually accomplish this...it requires a 2 step process...you need to cross-flash your dvr-109 to the A09 drive..then download and install the quiet drive utility on the pioneer firmware page...THEN go download the buffalo firmware and cross-flash AGAIN so you can enable booktyping..it's quite a complicated process and WOULD NOT SUGGEST you trying it unless you KNOW what you are doing ahead of time. you WILL void your warranty regardless, BUT could also mess up your drive so proceed with caution...

MIJ= made in japan

MIT = made in taiwan

lot of us here use the 3 letter abbreviations to simplify the response instead of typing everything out~ :)

yesterday i went to my local wal mart and searched for MIJ sony's but could only fint MIT's?...are MIJ Sony's not available in Canada?

stunt,i think maybe the only sonys mij are the + r's and the -r's are mit.at least thats what i've been seeing lately in the states.

i wouldn't go as far as saying they are NOT available in canada..perhaps your local store only carries the MIT at this time~ :) maybe later your store will carry them, just keep an eye out for it, good luck~ :)
