Drewman2,

The biggest problem with your DVD burning efforts is the extremely low amount of system memory you are running. 128MB of RAM is barely enough memory just to run your operating system - much less run memory intensive programs or applications ? such as graphics, large video or data files.

At a minimum, you need to run 512MB's of RAM. Minimum. I strongly recommend installing 1GB of RAM (if your motherboard allows) if you deal with large files (graphics or video, which, you obviously do). 512MBs of memory is very cheap now and 1GB memory is very reasonably priced now too.

512MB is the minimum of amount of memory you should have if you're running Windows XP but 1GB would be preferred. You would be surprised how much better EVERY program you run performs just by upgrading to more RAM.

It's already been explained how to best burn DVD's so no need for me to add my 2 cents worth there.

Depending on the size of the DVD you are working with, and the number of "compacting processes" you are asking DVD Shrink to perform, an Hour, or an Hour and a half, is NOT an unusual amount of time.

Be happy with what you have!
