You don't need to install an MC exploit to load all your backups. You can compile an "exploit" disc to load off the cd, rather than "install" using the program "independence compiler 4.1" selecting "no" at the option "installer only".
How do you load this without modification?... with AR MAX - it will load cdloader off a cdr you've burnt with their software.
This way you can load cogswaploader.elf through this "bootable exploit disc"
It IS a "grand idea"... and a good one at that. Works for me at least.
I've written a step-by step to do this here:

Hope this sorts out any problems with slimline PS2s

Can the new slimline PS2 (with the flip top) play backups?

@Greeves
The Slimeline 12 can play backups with a fliptop and swap magic. I have a V12 slimeline and have a fliptop with swap magic on it.
I paid $32 for mine as a set both fliptop and swap magic3 included at the link below.
http://www.consolepoint.com/
click on backup and import and it is down the list a little.

Hello,
My problem is a bit unusual, probably because I righteously suck at this, but..
I've made my exploit disk, I have gotten it to run 'Launch ELF 3.41', but I don't know where to go from there to run a game.. I've tried booting several .ELF's, and no dice. I've also used real ps2 games just to make sure it isn't me, and I don't know which specific .ELF file can boot it. Thanks in advance

From JJax: Hey man, got my ARMAX do help me out at last! - here's what i done:
1. Download Cdloader (cdload75.elf) from ( http://www.console.iscentral.net/download.php?view.24 )
2. Burn it to a cdr using max media creator PC software (you can add mcloader and other elfs if you like)
3. Put your burnt cd into your ps2 when u've loaded max media player.
4. Select cdload75.elf and it will load (more .elf files will load from your cd than from pendrive cause of the way they're programmed)
5. When it loads, press eject on the ps2 and put in an official ps2 cd game.
6. Next use a slide tool to pull out the tray and replace it with a compiled MC expolit disc. Press X to load the disc.
7. The MC exploit will install all its files on the MC and once you put in your ps1 game, you can load any elf file off the mc. (NO MOD required)..
This is the way i've cracked the problem recently, and it runs a dream, for cogswaploader.elf, mcloader.elf, ps2media.elf and pgen.elf.
My simple guide to the software you need for making the exploit disc etc. is at the bottom of the last page on this thread:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/19/109289
Cdloader will definitely load off an Action Replay cdr.. and this is the key to installing your exploit which will do all the work from there onwards.
Hope this helps you man, cause it took me a couple of months to figure it out myself.

thats the problem, because when I put in a PS2 game, nothing happens. But you (or jjax) say taht cdload75.elf is the file (or close to it)? I mean, I've already used the exploit disk, I just don't know exactly which .elf to use so I can boot other games.. I'll try it out though, thanks.
-Wish me luck-
EDIT::I've gotten the CD to work! One problem, after the opening credits, the screen goes black.. any help?

Are you using cogswaploader (off memory card after ps1 boot) or cdloader (off ARMAX media player) to load the cd?
If you're getting to credits, the difficult part has been passed. The problem is with TOC!!!...
TOC is "big" in a "big game" like GTA - San Andreas and "small" in a "small game", like tetris.
Idea is, you're backup game has to have lower TOC than the official game you've swapped with! - it doesn't need to be a massive difference, just "generally" smaller.

I used cogswap, but cool.. Thanks for the help, I'll try that out :)
Any chance is there a way to tell how big the toc on a game is?--gah just re-read and noticed the GTA and Tetris example-

Hi everyone. I have a problem with my Action Replay Max.
I have a PS2two and use backups with Swap Magic 3.6 with the hot keys.
When I use the Action Replay Max DVD it doesn´t stop. I can´t swap the DVD for my ps2 game or DVD Movie. Before I bought the Swap Magic the Action Replay Max allowed me to change the disks. There´s anyway to make AR MAX to work with the Swap Magic's keys?
I also read that some people load backups with AR MAX. Can I do that with my ps2two? If so, How I can do this?
(Sorry for my English)
Thanks

I'm new here but I was wondering if someone could explain the whole burning Ps2 games process to me because I really do not get it.
