MEMOREX is not 100 % Reliable; in my opinion.
perhaps try a different brand for this game.
a 10 pack of fujifilm's maybe? and give 2x a try.
sometimes tweaking the speed works for different games.

I dont Know if it is the image patcher i am using or its Socom 3 but when i scan file then i hit verify version and it says

ERROR: The Image File is not DN*S enabled or uses an unsupported version!

That is copy and pasted so it is exact

Has anyone succesfully even patched Socom 3 Yet

Well for once I know something not alot of people know.

Socom 3 is damn near impossible to play online.

I bought it, with the mic on account of my mic broke after buying socom 1, I never played socom 2. but apparently the online cheat device crap is the same with socom 3, that's what you'll get even if you patch it with the proper dnas

The Version of the image patcher on ps2nfo won't work, I used WinDip 1.7, it works fine for patching it. I used Maxell dvds at 1x speed and i can play single player on my backup fine, however I'm having problems with going online as well, I haven't looked into randomizing hexs yet. but if anyone could fill me in with more info I'd greatly appreciate it, also if you need windip I'll send it to you, just ask.

Maxell Dvds kick all ass, I've burned about 30 games not one of them has had an error with Maxell, if you want perfect backups offline or online (minus games like this with special dnas changing crap) it'll work everytime, use Maxell Dvd Decrypter And Windip V 1.7, like I said it always works.

i dont know much about x-link but apparently theres no DNAS check ?? so you can get online.

And also most of us are using swap magics .. i think

Good info Mr. Noob. Playing this game online is more an urban legend than reality. I don't own the game, but have been looking for a single post from a credible source that has played a backup online. Nothing yet. BCDSM ditch the Memorex, they're crap. Try Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Maxell, TDK, Sony, or Phillips DVD-R's. Burn at 1x, then 2x, then 4x using DVD Decrypter until it works. Here's a guide for DVD Decrypter: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html

I found away around the system! ok I'm presuming this will work with socom 2 as well, now when you accept the agreement and log in a couple seconds later it boots you out and bans you right? well get through all the crap before the ban part, and right before it does swap your disc out, then select a game, then slide the game back in and you're set to go!

Don't know, don't own Socom 2 or 3. It may work, though I don't think anybody but the author has tried it. If you own Socom 3, try it out.

i found this on another website:

Actual Step-by-Step Method;

1. Insert Swap Magic CD version into PS2 & boot.
2. Swap out for burnt CDLoader Beta & press X
3. Once loaded, EJECT CDLoader disc using EJECT button, or press Triangle.
4. Place Swap Magic DVD version into ejected tray, and close tray. Wait until it says 'DVD' in bottom corner of screen, then press X.
5. On next screen, once DVD is loaded, use normal Swap Method to replace Swap Magic DVD with Socom 3 backup, then press X. Game will load. Proceed as normal.

see if it works.

Ok Guys here is the answer to my own question, Us DVD Decrytor, and burn at x1 the backup now loads, it seems that a rebuild with this backup does not seem to work, you just get the Secom 3 Screen and then it stops.

hope this helps

Somebody claims they've found a method to make Socom 3 backup go online here -
http://www.ps2nfo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82

But that page required a registration with an ISP based E-mail provider.

:(

BUT, i heard 3rd party game hosters don't check for DNAS authorization, in fact, i'm sure :) when of them is http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/

i haven't tried it yet..need to get some crossover cables to set up a network with the ps2 and the PC.

Xlink is the only way to go...it is and has been the only way to play GT4 online, just used your LAN ps2 to ps2 setiings, but routes the LAN across the net, but your PS2 doesn't know that. Some games experience horrible lag, and good connections are a must. The anti-lag software in some LAN online programming is compensation and expecting like 1ms of lag...bu getting 20-100....some games handle it likes shit, and some play great.

I tried extracting the DNAS300 with WinImage and patching it with dnas_id, then injecting it and that didn't work either (it injects succesfully, but I get the 'cheat device detected' error.

Offline games seem to work just fine.

Oh yeah, while looking through the ISO with WinImage, I seen a couple folders labeled HDD, anyone know of any HDD compatability? I'm too busy to search right now, or else I'd do it.

Is a credit card number required for EVERY game? I went to join a game for the first time and I got the 'verify account' message. I even tried different briefing rooms and couldn't get into even one game. I then went to quick join, cancelled out, then I was able to join any server and any game. I remember playing Black Hawk Down and some people said it was just for clans, and some people said it's every single game, so I have not a clue lol.

Not really sure. EA added some account verification check recently, which I believe makes it impossible to get online with EA backups. As far as Socom's CC check, maybe that serves the same purpose, unless of course you have the original.

Yes I have the original. It's pretty fun so far. I'm not sure if this is considered a workaround or not, I'm gonna PM someone at PS2NFO and see what they know about it.
