AngelFan,
Looks like we are going to have to do this the hard way. It sounds like you need a clean install of the OS to cure this problem. I want you to D/L this registry cleaner first and clean the registry. Use this one as it is free:

http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm

Or this on: http://www.registry-cleaner.net/

I would use the 2nd one first to see if it cleans it up enough. If not then go for the other as it will clean all of the registry of conflicts. The second one is a more gentle one and will cause no harm whereas the 1st one could cause harm but if you know what you are doing the you can do it. You are having a lot of ram used and you might have problems there as there should not be that much used.

AngelFan,
Your DMA is fine so do not worry about that. I think GlueEater was talking about the IDE/ATA Atapi Controllers and they are fine as the computer is in DMA Mode per the log

Sorry, i passed out from lack of sleep. I know creaky knows this line is a problem, and how to fix it.
Quote:
Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ?
but i cant seem to find any thread that mentions how to fix it. Oh, and my suggestion to search the site using ATAPI as the search term.. waaaaaaaaaayyy too many threads to sort thru, even though i tried. I am going to PM my buddy creaky and have him come in on this one. It might take some time, but he is the Nero burn log expert, and it's time to call in the big guns. :)

ok it froze again at 10 percent so I did that clean registry thing and it found a bunch of errors with DVD Shrink..(I used the first choice) now I am scanning using the 2nd choice..the reason why I dont want to restore the operating system is cause I did that two weeks ago first of all..and secondly..I cant be restoring every two weeks cause of this problem..what if it happens again..I have to find out why this is happening so that it wont happen again

Creaky is the one that can type fast. Hell he can give me a 5 minute head start and we will find the same things and still beat me typing
- lmao. i'd be quicker if Afterdawn would give us those 'modern' features like they use over at the 'other' site (ie cdfreaks) - the functionality where you just select your text and press the quote button, for instance.

Nero API version: 7.0.0.0
- sigh!, you won't get me moving to Nero 7, not as long as dvd-video burning doesn't change - absolutely no need for me, plus i have no intention of going near Nerovision Express, unless it's someone's logfiles..so i have no need for Nero 7 myself, too many bugs at the moment, (but then no different from any new release i s'pose). 'fraid Nero won't get me to buy 7.x either way :)

Anyway...

- you're quite right, it's nigh on impossible to search for stuff like this, but that question mark means one of two things. the burner's external, or the ATAPI drivers aren't loaded correctly. Now the burner's internal, and DMA is on, however the next paragraph has no ATAPI drivers listed. -

No wonder stuff is failing/locking up - A jumper is wrong on the back of one of those drives....i'd say change the jumper on the GCE-8320B drive to Slave....as you got 2 drives trying to be Master - not good

Awwww and i always pictured you in a small wooden boat, maybe even with a sail. The wooden creaking sound was where you got your handle from, and you had a pet parrot, cats also, and sailed the sea around England running on batteries and solar/wind power for your pc's. With sat phone service for your internet dls.. but yeah, a 55 footer is no small boat. A B-52 looks large, but believe me, they cram more crap in there, and there is very little space left for humans. Well, let's hope AngleFan gets this fixed following your suggestions, and posts back with a good burn.

see what happened is that my computer came with a CD-RW drive and a DVD-ROm drive..the CD-RW drive stopped working..so I got a dvd burner(External) I disabled the CD-RW drive so that only the DVD-Rom drive and burner will now work..things are so far so good..perhaps the roxio thing in the computer messed things up but now that I have reformated hopefully there will be no more conflict..as far as having Nero 7..its pretty good..

@AngelFan - Roxio does often mess things up, but having 2 drives both trying to be 'Master' is your biggest problem - tends to make your PC psychotic

@Maxburn - lmao, very good :)

So by disabling the drive that no longer works is not a good idea..then what should I do..I want the DVD-RW drive to be the master drive and to also have the DVD-Rom drive..the CD-RW drive no longer works(Which is the one that I have disabled)

OK so what do I have to do..cause even though I reformatted the hard drive..its still freezing up at 30 percent..so it has nothing to do with what I have installed(Such as software) I am beginning to think its nothing to do with my drive and perhaps the actual dvd is not good..but anyways..how do I do it so that the CD-RW is no longer in(as long as I dont have to open up the computer and just have to press something then I will do it)

I have pretty much given up on DVD Shrink..its not encoding and it freezes up at different percentages..is there something else I can use to get the DVD to the hard drive cause this is getting very frustrating..I basically reformatted for no reason..cause the same thing is still happening

you're gonna have to open the case and switch that jumper on the GCE-8320B drive to Slave, or disconnect the drive by pulling the ribbon cable out the back of that drive.. Either way, constant reformatting, worrying about Shrink etc etc, is not gonna make your system stop getting confused over 2 drives with the same jumper settings...

here's how to set the jumper - http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6603_7-5118840-4.html

@AngelFan
Listen to creaky. If you got the drive in there, you can change the jumper setting. Unfortunately this problem is not going to be fixed by pushing a button. It is real easy to do though. Most pc cases have 2 thumb screws you remove to get the side cover off, and 2 screws holding the drive in. If you have room in your pc, you may even be able to do this without removing the drive/cables, but probably not. I use a small needle nose plyer to change jumpers. Many drives list what each setting is on the case or circuit board by the jumpers. If you still have the manual for the drive, it will list jumper settings also.

Jumper settings are normally listed on the drive case below the jumper posts. They are a breeze to change. Your issues will not go away until you make this change.

Hey all..I am right now burning the movie onto the hard drive using DVDFab Decrypter..so far so good..if it had something to do with the other thing I have on my computer it wouldn't burn at all..so I have a feeling it has nothing to do with it..if it does..then I will open the computer and make the necessary changes..once I have finished ripping it to the hard drive using DVDFab Decrypter..do I just open it in SHrink and burn? or should I use something else? Thanks

well then i don't see how we can help you further until you disconnect that drive... i don't know how to keep rewording what i've already said a few times...you are gonna keep having grief until you sort out the basics - ie you cannot have 2 drives connected that way...
