Alkohol,your a god!
thank you very much.
@levian

And you're very welcome. I wish I was a God -- if and if only I'm God, then I'll definitely have my wisdom to destroy all of them "encrypted protections" so human/people will live in peace and freedom again.

Alkohol, thanks for the great instructions. I'm new to this process and very new to this forum. I guess that means I'm a newbie...ultra newbie to be exact.

Anyway, I have one question. I followed your Madagascar instructions and they were perfect. My grandson (yep....grandson) now has his own backup of the movie to scratch as much as he pleases. But I have a couple of questions I hope you have time to address.

After you open VobBlanker and locate VTST 8,1 TTN1 Title 18, you instructed to blank entries 2-5. Why only those four? And what exactly clues me that those lines need blanking?

Thank you very much,
David

VobBlanker reads the files and cleans the ones that are suspect which in turn let's you burn any movie you want.

Hi
I foolowed the instructions given by alkohol but ended up blanking all 5 sections instead of 2 to 5 as I kept getting errors. That seemed to work as everything went through.
Then I wwent to use DVD Shrink and as it started opening, I got an error message "VTS_01_1.VOB Invalid access to memory location".

Any suggestions? This is the toughest movie for me to back up to date.

Thanks

I followed his instructions precisely and I end up with no errors and a perfect movie.

I'd suggest starting over and not blanking item one. Given its size, I don't think it's got any part in the Ripguard process.

I left alkohol a couple of questions about just blanking line 2-5, but I may have answered my own question.

@David aka ku4hx

Because those are junks that has Ripguard protections and or bad cell protected sectors.

*NOTE: when I said to run it through PgcEdit, and plugins, find protected sectors? Here is the picture again.

Now once you open up VobBlanker, you click on VTS_8, (actually VTS_8 is the main MADAGASCAR movie) it will shows "5 PGCs or TTN". You can have VobBlanker do the preview/play them. Notice: the first PGC/TTN running time is 1:25:52:21 <-- this is the whole movie.

I'm sorta new to VobBlanker too, but if you play around with it, you'll get the hang of it. Remember, practices makes perfect.

@surfer527

When you Blank out all ( 1 - 5) you've blank out the whole movie already, therefore, you're having trouble.

I'm afraid I have to say that you'd misread/misunderstood that particular step. I said: "click on VTS_8 and now it should have all 5 PGCs/TTN, but you "NEED" to "Blank out" PGC/TTN 2 - 5 (meaning PGC 2, PGC 3, PGC 4, and PGC 5 only), then just click PROCESS."

Hi
I re-started the process. I used DVD Fab Decryper to copy yo my hard drive. Then I followed the instructions to use PGC Edit. I got an error message that said:
"Error loading NAV Pack from DVD\Video_TS\VTS_08_1.VOB at sector 3848 (in file)
Maybe ARcco5 protection sector skipped by a DVD ripper.

Do you want to skip the remaing notifications?"

I press "no"' and things go to the end.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks

Thanks alkohol...after I thought about it, it just made no sense to blank a file with over an hour's "playing time". That had to be, as you put it, "the whole movie".

I'm an Advanced class ham radio operator ... ku4hx is my callsign. I've passed this forum's address along to a couple of my ham buddies so you may see a few more callsigns.

Again, thanks, your instructions worked to perfection.

The newest version of AnyDVD, 5.5.5.1 handles Madagascar just fine.

Well, after 8 tries, alkohol' process worked.

Actually, I am an idiot as I had DVD 4 3 running in the background which seemed to screw things up.

Once I turned that off and followed the directions, everything worked fine.
Thanks for the tips.

Hi everyone and hoped everyone had a nice thanksgiving.I did a little research of this movie "Madagascar" and this is what i found: First of all dvdfabdecrypter free CAN'T RIP this movie (it says sorry this program has encountered an error and needs to close)it probably needs to be updated. Secondly the new dvd-cloner 3 can't even find the movie when i put it in my sony dvd-rom (this is version 3.0)( I TRIED TO COPY THIS MOVIE USING THESE PROGRAMS THAT I STATED WITH NO LUCK.)Now i tried using clone dvd with AnyDVD running in the backround and voila! the backups worked flawlessly!This movie has the new macrovision ripguard in it....it's a little tough to rip....but fortunately with AnyDVD you can back up this movie.......PLEASE NOTE:Make sure you have the latest AnyDVD version 5.6.1.1 On the information box it will say this movie has ripguard in it, wrong dvd structure, and 2 bad sectors! I'm glad to share this information with the afterdawn community.....afterdawn is a GREAT SITE, i log in it every day....and keep up the good work.....Later!

Alkohol,

I am just a little confused as to how you can say Madagascar can't be done with DVD Fab Decrypter? I did this movie easily with DVDFD and Nero recode with out any issues what so ever? Was I just lucky? Then I asked my friend to give it a try, and he also did this movie with no problems using DVDFD and Shrink. I think everyone just needs to make sure they have the newest version of DVDFD and all would be fine. I do however really like your instructions to everyone on using Vobblanker and really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this. It is people like you that make this a great site and keep people comming back for more.

Keep up the good work :-)

@bbmayo,

Thanks for the compliment, you're greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm afraid I'll have to say that this is the version I used (DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.5.8) and it failed to decrypt all of Madagascar's "Ripguard protections" or bad protected sectors. It clearly stated that "it added support for a new protection as found on "Madagascar" (US). However, it did finished the ripping process into hard drive though, but when I encoded with either Nero Recode 2 and DVD Shrink, both DVD Shrink and Nero Recode 2 failed due to "out of memory". Below is what I got it from www.DVDIdle.com webstie.

(11/18/2005) Version 2.9.5.8 Updated!

* Change: Added support for a new protection as found on "Madagascar" (US).
It's not a Sony movie, but the protection is almost same with Sony ARccOS.

Perhaps, you've got the latest version 2.9.6.0 or 2.9.6.2, which was updated a few days later (11/22) mainly for "Stealth" and or other Sony's ARccOS.

Now I'm really confused because DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.5.8 was updated just for Madagascar, but sadly it failed to alter and or crack all of Madagascar's encrypted protections.

i did Madagascar effortlessly last night with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like io do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..

Updated - I re-ripped Madagascar with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.2 (free) and have Nero Recode 2 to encode with "Advanced Analysis" successfully.

So for any Newbies, that's all you need to do for now.
