I think it is odd that Decrypter gives a Dummy Sector message. I do not see any type of ARccOS protection on this movie. It is possible that the Dummy Sectors are going into VTS_01, but this looks to be a warning screen of some type. Maybe you should try to rip the movie with DVD Shrink, or since you have the move on your Hard Drive, use VobBlanker to blank out VTS_01 (not the menu though).

Also, when you rip the movie, make sure you select the proper Region. Maybe there is that RCE protection and it is not being removed correctly.

I was wondering, did you try to burn the movie?? If you have a DVDRW burn it, but first run it through DVD Shrink. If Shrink does not give you an error, then everything should be OK.

Another thing you can do is export a PSL. If there is nothing to export, then it is possible that there is an authoring error somewhere. This would be hard to find though.

I will look at the IFOs a bit closer tonight, and if I find something, I will tell you.

If you plan on skipping VTS_01, then in file mode, do not select VTS_01_1.VOB. Then after you rip, open VobBlanker and process this VTS. Make sure you blank out VTS_01 PGC 1. I do not know exactly what is in this VTS, but there is a chance that it is giving Decrypter some problems.

hi all,
If anyone has been following the problems with Be Cool, this is a lttle bit of a strange one.

Anydvd runing or not..... DVD Decrypter pulls all files raw and no problems (apart from a warning about a dumm sector needed), and the movie comes out with green blocks.

DVD shrink hit problems with or without AnyDVD. DVDfab hits problems.

JaguarGod has been trying to help me out with this problem for about a week now, and some thins look suspect, yet they are not.

So heres what i did. Last night sitting up after the wife and kid were in bed, i found a piece of software that came with my new mother board i bout a few weeks ago and on it was interVideo DVD copy 2. so i can only install it on this computer. Not the computer i use all the time for my DVD making. and low and behold....... RIPED AND COMPRESSED!!!!!!!

works like a dream, granted i need to install AnyDVD to do it.... but problem solved...... now all i have to do is wait untill Stealth is released here in South Africa, and see if this DVD copy is as good as i hope that it is.

Problem i have is i cannot install this new whoopie software on my other computer as it is made for my Asus Motherboard. Small price to pay i guess for the weeks i have been working on this disc.

JaguarGod, thank you so much for your time and your help.

Will keep intouch with the forum as it has been a great help and very helpful people in it.

Thanks again

Will stay in touch

Happy Ripping

PS just tried to rip the same disc on my other computer with interVideo DVD copy 4 and it crashed out.... so what is it with this version 2?

PSS JaguarGod, all those VTS files in that disc are trailers to other movies..... but are not accessable from the menus on the disc..... so what was the point?

Just more Sony BS. Some things they do make me wonder how they are so successful...

Use VobBlanker and get rid of them. Not only will it save you space, you will not have to watch all those stupid previews before the menu appears.

I recently acquired Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo. It shows Sony Entertainment on the disc, so I can presume it might have some ARccOS protection on it.

Disregarding any possibility of ARccOS protection, I used my normal process (AnyDVD v.5.4.1.1 running in the background) and CloneDVD. I did not encounter any errors like I would have normally. It ripped and burned completely. However, when I went to play it back on a normal DVD player, I noted several spots in the movie where the movie freezes.

Might this be a result of me not looking for any ARccOS protection when I ripped it the first time ? If not, what else would cause the ripped DVD to freeze at several points in the main movie and what can be done to prevent it ?

Thanks.

I got all the way through the "newbie" process, but then when I tried to open the file with DVD Shrink, I get the error:

Invalid data in file: C:...\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB
Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

How can I get around this error? Help a true newbie!

Thanks.

When I tried to rip Stealth using DVD Decrypter, VOB_1 gave multiple errors so i skipped that file. But, the rest of the files were ripped as usual. So, I went to the DVD Drive (E), and Right clicked it to open the Stealth DVD. There, I copied VOB_1 and pasted it with the rest of the files from DVD Decrypter.

Next, I DVD Shrinked it (which is a gem) and it ripped the movie like any other DVD.

@Werdnah,

Deuce Bigalow does not have any ARccOS on it. You only need to use the guide for movies that give you some type of read error on VTS_xx_1.VOB. Decrypter will first give you a Dummy Sector message. Then when it rips, it will get stuck at a certain place and go to 0 kbps rip speed and give you a read error every couple of seconds. Also, this guide is not needed for those that have AnyDVD. Make sure you update to the latest version, currently 5.6.1.1.

@SiberXX,

It seems like you have AnyDVD running in the background. The errors may have been Pack Header Errors. You can safely ignore those.

Hey:

Nope, just have DVD Decrypter and Shrink. AnyDVD seems like a good program but so far, every dvd disk i've run into can be decrypted with either of those programs as long as the disk is not too badly scratched.

I usually use DVD Shrink first and if it gives errors, then i am forced to use both programs. If I run into problems then, I just try different things till it works.

okay I fixed the error I had above, but DVD Shrink still says it's too big. How do I blank out the previews?

@jman147,

You need to use VobBlanker:

http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm

http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides.htm

The previews are in VTS_03 and on. You should also strip the audio using VobBlanker. Leave only the 5.1 Dolby. I also blanked the extras.

@crmyers,

PM me with your e-mail

Hi!

Very intersting approach and also a nice guide!

This statement puzzles me a bit (it's not mentioned in your 'expert' guide):
Quote:
If you want to use DVD Shrink, this is where to Strip the DTS. Shrink will have a problem with the file size if you do not. Also, if you decide, you can keep all Audio Streams as this step is only to fix the corrupted IFO.
Is this just to the fact that in general the DTS stream will take to much space - needed for the compression/shrinking or is it just for this DVD or ARccOS DVDs in general a problem for DVD Shrink to handle such DVDs with DTS streams enabled? Just to be noted that this DVD makes something odd with DVD Shrink - just your AC 5.1 soundstream is only 8 Mb as showned in your image.

Hello Cynthia_,

No, both the DTS & Dolby 5.1 can actually fit with only 95% compression on this movie. There is something that Sony does to the VOBs that I cannot figure out. As you saw in that screen shot you pointed out, the audio files are misread by DVD Shrink and it does not allow the movie to compress.

The same goes for the DTS audio. DVD Shrink detects it as being 12kb or something like that. It could be that I am runnig Windows 2000, but I have yet to attempt any type of ripping/burning on Windows XP (I do not like XP). I have noticed the same being true even with a PSL file.

The reason it was not mentioned in the advanced guide is because I did not have this problem then. I actually ripped the movies while making both guides, so there is a chance that some of the editing that I did in IFOEdit corrected Resident Evil, or maybe Sony changed something with ARccOS.

@JaguarGod,

I tried using VobBlanker, but I keep getting an error that says:

"Input Error: Reached end of VOB too early."

Any thoughts on what to do about that?

THANKS FOR ALL YOR HELP.

@JaguarGod,

I joined this forum a little while agao as i had a DVD that was very unusual, since then i got tit right due to the time an pacience of JaguarGod, so i am very thankfull.

However i have just recently aquired a SONY DVD and as a test i wanted to try out JaguarGods Guide...... What a dream it was to see everything working just like it was meant to, and it has taught me more about the ifo file setup.

Only problem i had was DVDShrink, it only compressed it to 92% .... but i caryied on with it anyway and used DVD2One to recompress the now very nice protection free DVD.

Great Guide and thanks again.

@jman147,

This is the error you get when you do not replace the original rip with the new one created by IFOEdit. Go to the New folder that IFOEdit saved to and drag and drop the files into the VIDEO_TS folder. You will get a message about overwriting the files. Click OK.

After you do this, it would also be a good idea to use the "Get VTS Sectors" function in IFOEdit. I do it after every step to make sure that everything is correct in the sector addresses.

I think you should try to use FixVTS ver 1.11 - it should fix your problem with the soundtrack size and also the non shrinking problem in DVD Shrink. Seems that the latest ARccOS version introduced this problem.

This 'fix' is only needed for certain ARccOS discs.

Thanks Cynthia.

I figured out why the fix is needed and I updated the guide (added a new section) based on your information.

I think that IFOEdit may also be able to fix this problem by checking the "Strip VobID's" option in the "Strip Streams" step, but I have not tested that one yet.

Hi
I have seen some member's reply here in other thread giving serial and reg key for AnyDVD but they were edited by the moderator right away. This excellent program is well worth the money since it can crack any movies or almost any movies with ease. Please support the guys from Slysoft for paying this excellent program for their hard work. They always update AnyDVD everytime there's a new protection. If you buy this program you get lifetime update and the price is very fair for a excellent program.

Let's support Slysoft for AnyDVD.
Thanks
