i have the exact problem when i maually move the file it says "make sure the file and path name are correct" thats after about ten seconds into the transfer and my psp acknowledges that the file transfered (memory wise) but there is no icon showing the file just the actual space on my memeory card has been used.

Change the output directory for your encoded files.

if you could, use my sugestion use psp video express.this is the url
Psp Video ExpressIt records your video with high quality and you can upload .DAT files too. When it is finished,it automatic becomes mpeg4.so you can wait for a window to appear and say Recording complete.press the transfer to psp button.there will be a new window, select the file to be transfered and press transfer selected files.Note:if transfering the file you must also transfer the .THM file also.

okay, something i'm doing isn't right...i can't put videos into my PSP even after i followed the directions. so, i have this music video that someone sent me and it's already mp4 but it's not playing. here's what i did:
1. Connected the PSP to the PC
2. Created a folder named MP_ROOT next to/in the same level as the PSP folder
3. Created a folder in MP_ROOT named 100MNV01
4. Copied and pasted the music video in 100MNV01

that didn't work so i did tried this:
1. Connected the PSP to the PC
2. Created a folder inside the PSP folder named MP_ROOT
3. Created a folder in MP_ROOT named 100MNV01
4. Copied and pasted the music video in 100MNV01 ]

both ways didnt work...so what did i do wrong?

Depending on what codec was used to encode the video, (and i,d say its AVC), its in the wrong folder.

MP_ROOT/100MNV01/M4Vxxxxx.MP4
MP_ROOT/100ANV01/MAQxxxxx.MP4

If it doesnt have any of these file names, it maybe that its been encoded to suit a V2.80+ PSP, (no specfic headers needed) therefore it needs to go into the VIDEO folder (which is also created beside the MP_ROOT and PSP folders.
But if your not running V2.80 and you cant load DevHook, its of no use to you.

From 2.80+ there is no need for specfic file names, as you can call them what you want.
But they must go into the VIDEO folder which is created or found in the root of your ms. (Beside the PSP and MP_ROOT folders.

No your picking me up wrong mate, movies that where encoded for any firmware below 2.80 must still go in their respective folders.
IE: 100MNV01 and 100ANV01. They will still work.
Movies encoded for 2.80+ dont require these file names and must go in the VIDEO folder.
The MP4 that you have downloaded may not even be compatible for either folder.

You just cant grab an MP4 file and change the name an expect it to work, it has to be encoded into the header.
Try PSPvideo9.
