Ehh. I'm having issues with CDVDGen. I keep getting the error, "Too short location length." I gave up after a while and used a different program that compiled it straight to an ISO, but when I try to load the hacked game from my HDD, the AR freezes randomly. It doesn't give me enough time to put in a decent sized code. I tried compiling just the AR using this method, too, but it still freezes. If I just skip past it, the game loads up and I can play just fine.
Game: Monster Hunter (Extracted from HDD, I no longer have the disc, but I didn't download it.)
Device: ARMAX EVO (Downloaded this.)
I follwed your steps completely until I get to this part:
In those pictures I'm just trying to get the program to work, so I've only got the files for the game in there. But I've tried all sorts of different methods. So is this something I did? Is the patcher wrong? Do I have a bad copy of ARMAX? Please help.. ._.
<edit>I have the wnaspi32.dll file in my system32 folder. When I run the other EXE files in the CDVDGen folder I get errors. Also, I won't be able to respond until.. probably late Wednesday, if you need more information from me.</edit>

dunno to much bout DVDgen either try chevyuk's guide theres a link to it near the end of my first post. Is Monster Hunter a CD game or a DVD? did you add ARMAX to DVDGEN as the files arent in your pic?

Wow, that was a fairly swift response.
It's a DVD game. The files aren't in the picture because I was testing to see if it was something to do with the AR files. Anyhow, it doesn't matter. I looked closer at your pictures and saw you have Version 1.2, so I downloaded that and patched it, and it created the IML just fine. That didn't help, though. I can run it off my PS2 HDD, but the AR still freezes in a matter of seconds. I don't understand what could be going wrong, though. It has all the same files as yours (except the SLES is SLUS on mine). I can boot the game just fine if I don't sit on the AR screen too long. If someone else could check the files for me, they're at mininova.org. Hard to miss, it's the HDLoader injector files. Thanks in advance. ^^;

yea im not sure what would cause it to freeze if you dont want to have to enter codes manually try 3dlius guide to add the latest codes to the disc that you add to the games.

Who? I did a search on the forums and at Google, no results for 3dlius.
<edit>Nevermind. Typo. :X</edit>
<edit2>Fixed my problem. If you have your internet cable plugged into your NA while you're using this ISO+AR it'll freeze. So unplug it, and all works! :D</edit2>

SCIII is that Splinter Cell? if so then you need a patch for it to work or you may need to activate some modes in hdloader.

SCIII would be as in Soul Calibur III, I don't know, everything was placed in correct as the tutorial said, but it kept sending me back to the AR MAX Screen and then it freezes the second time...

Does it go right back to the very first Armax screen? if so then it might be because you didnt hexedit your SLES file (enough).
Edit or either your SYSTE1.CNF or SYSTEM.CNF files need changing.

another thing, you are not supposed to extract Big.dat, Big2.dat, and Dummy.zip from the ARMAX CD?

Never mind the problem i had. After downloading a different hex editor got it all working. Made my wifes younger brother very happy.
Ok so i am lost with this one. I open up the SLUS file in a hex editor, and search for SYSTEM.CNF but nothing comes up.
Now everything looks alright and i even tried ripping the ARMAX cd 3 times thinking i did something wrong but it never comes up.
Any clues as to what i might be doing wrong? I have tried both the find and find in files and no luck.
Thanx in advance.
Peace

@Sigare: When you try to find the System.cnf locations, if you have an option to "Find ASCII", check it, and you should be able to find them. I'm using UltraEdit32, and that's what I had to do to find them.

i read that the threads above some guys have problems in running the ARMAX because of PAL/NTSC. Could it be that PAL version of AR max does not work on a NTSC PS2?

the only PAL/NTSC conflict is when you use a PAL copy on an NTSC game or vice versa, a PAL copy should work fine on a NTSC console, with a PAL game being used.
