Shrink 3.2 has analysis which it runs normally and then it has the Deep Analysis which is the time consuming process, which helps eliminate compression errors. For doing the tasks you want, running without the quality settings is fast. 3.2 has good editing tools. The decryption software is even more obsolete with the older version, which makes it more a problem when not using an added method of decryption. If you want to stay with 2.2, that's your choice. You can tell yourself it's special, but the vast majority of people that use Shrink have updated to enjoy the upgrades and I've not heard any complaints, unless you are. It's still a matter of choice, so use what you want. And the entire sentence read:

what good does it do to view if it won't transcode.
Meaning if you can't use the files, they're worthless.

I'm not disputing your argument... I use shrink 3.2 utility for most all "main-movie" processing... it's the best thing going..!! The only point I was making, was, as an VIEWING utility [only] the older 2.2 shrink is worth keeping on my desktop...

thankx for yer input... Rob

Didn't mean to be argumentative. The viewer in 3.2 does everything I'd want of a viewer. I even use it in Full Disc to view and edit using Still Image from Compression settings. I can view and selectively retain just what I want and still retain menu function for navigation. If I unintentionally selected a deleted item, the DVD loops back, so no problem. It works equally well in Re-author. It expands to full screen with decent quality. There's Play, Pause and the slider bar control for fast forward and reversing through the file. I would have liked that in full screen, but this is a freebie. Out of curiosity, what does the 2.2 version do that the 3.2 can't?

as I detailed a couple posts back... for joining multiple titles from DIFFERENT folders... I must use DVD2One... so I use the 2.3 shrink [I said 2.2 before] just as a qwikee-viewer, that also gives title file sizes & running times... even occasionally to edit "start/end" of titles... so long as no compression is involved. The 2.3 version loads these small folders in several seconds.

If you say so. I have no problem viewing or editing with the later versions. If you prefer the older version, there's nothing wrong with that. However, I don't know about the difference in analysis times. 3.2 does it in a matter of seconds on most things. As I mentioned, only the Deep Analysis takes a little more time, but for compression reasons. It's all about choice and I sometimes make decisions on using an app by some small difference with another. I guess that can work for others with versions as well. Good burning.
