Alright guys, I'd like to clear a few things up here..
Downgrading your PSP
If you own a Sony PSP with a v1.0 or v1.5 firmware, I wouldn't suggest upgrading it! The reason for this is because when Sony first released the PSP, it had the 1.0 firmware on it. Hurray! Soon after, they started releasing newer games with newer firmwares for bug fixes, security updates, etc.
BUT, here's the thing:
The older firmwares for the PSP were written into the flash memory, so that they could be upgraded at a later date to cope with the Sony patches (firmwares). The newer firmwares (from 2.01 to present) were written into the internal memory, so that they could not be downgraded. Boo on Sony. Sure, you can still upgrade them, but you cannot downgrade them. (If you do use FW 2.01+, you can use homebrew by the GTA:LCS gamesave exploit)
Also, DO NOT UPGRADE TO 2.7 FIRMWARE
If you do so, you will lose all ability to play homebrew. This has been tested and confirmed.
So, what have we learned here today? There is no such thing as a 2.01+ firmware downgrader. Please do yourself a favor, and stop searching.

Honestly i believe there will be a downgrader. Ive been following the psp scene since the days of "hello world" on 1.0. Back when 2.0 couldnt be downgraded there were always those people that would say "IT CANT BE DONE!! STOP BEING RETARDED!!" or something similar. and about 2 weeks later there was an tif exploit that succesfully downgraded. who would have thought that some obscure glitch like a "buffer overflow" could downgrade??? theres always a weak spot or glitch. I personally think downgrading is a bandaide for a real problem. people want to use homebrew but also want the other bells and whistles of the newer psp's. so i started a homebrew project for running snes other homebrew on a psp v2.6 without exploits like u would do with the "loco roco" demo or with a umd. i have figured out half of the puzzle and got it to partially boot but still need to rewrite the data.psp file for the newer encryption on 2.6. one person off this site was nice enough to give me the codewarrior dev kit over ftp and now i can hopefully fix my eboot.
downgrading is not the answer. once people can make authentic sony code not the home-made crap then sony can make all the updates it wants but they cant patch their own code because it would render umd's unplayable.
MY PSPs:
Chrome v1.5, datel 4gb hdd w/x2 battery (downgraded)
Black v1.5, 64mb duo
Black v2.6, 512mb duo

don't believe any of that.. if it were true it would be on psp hacks and you could get it for free just like you get the isos. http://www.psp-hacks.com

Exactly. If there actually was a real downgrader for the 2.01+ PSP firmware, wouldn't you have already heard about it on numerous PSP mod sites? Get it through your heads. After updating to the 2.01+ firmware for the Sony PSP, there is no possible way to downgrade to a firmware lower than that.
Yes, you may see people 'offering' a way to downgrade your firmware (for a low, one-time fee of $9.99 or something), but all you are going to receive are instructions on how to make your pretty Sony PSP into a brand-spanking new Sony doorstop.
Sure, you may be compelled to purchase one of these guides; and you may even believe the author to the fullest extent, but face it. It's the internet. People lie to get what they want.
Although, I have seen a guide on one PSP mod site that provides you with a step-by-step process to downgrading a 2.6 FW PSP, BUT, I would not exactly trust it. It involves many numerous hex-edits and such with the flash memory. One mistake and you can be looking at your new paper-weight to set aside with your unused AOL CDs.
Bottom line is; if there were an actual 2.01+ firmware downgrader, you would have found out about it by now. Save yourself the wasted energy and stop searching. The answer will come soon enough.

Common sense would tell you, that if Sony had created an update to firmware 2.7, it would patch bugs and exploits. Hence why the Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories gamesave exploit (for PSP owners running FW v2.01+) does not work with the 2.7 firmware.

ISO's are backups of games e.g a backup of gta in iso format, homebrew is different, homebrew is programs that are made unofficially (not endorsed by sony)..

Actually, there is no telling. Maybe one day in the near future one will be developed, but there will more than likely be a lot of work to pull it off. If it is done though, major props to the developer.
I just don't see why people don't buy a brand new PSP, if they want the older firmware. They come with 1.0 I believe.

I highly doubt there would be one in the nearest future. There hasn't been one since the 2.01 firmware was released. What makes you think there will be one anytime soon? My best advice would be that if you want a 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 FW PSP, sell the one you have. There wouldn't really be much of a difference in the PSP itself, other than possible minor scratches on the older one. Besides, if you keep your memory stick(s), there really would be no difference at all. (That is, if you don't count the extra features the 2.6 firmware PSPs would have.)
Go for it if you really would like one. I would do the same, but I am quite happy with my 2.6 PSP.

I have a gp2x which is better than sony's "update" ridden console. and it can emulate anything. even psx. but even better than that is the price tag: 179.99 on ebay.com. when i want to play psp i play my 2.6 but when i need homebrew i use the gp2x. it has a 30+ framerate on alot of games.

Anything? Can it emulate PSP games?
Exactly, scratch anything =)

well at least someone likes it. Its not doing well. Im not dissing the system, but it really isn't making noise.

In the context of this forum you are right.
However an ISO is just a Single Cd Image of something. It can be various things like videos, back-ups etc.. it doesnt nessecarily have to be a game.

thats cool abt the internet. i dont know much abt psps but my friend has a 1.5 and has a software on the computer that tricks the psp into thinking that it is 2.0 but still allows to play iso. maybe that allows you to use the internet too after loading the emulator?

You know, I'm sitting here at my desk staring at this stupid E-Bay site about the guy who will send you a "guide on how to get emulators and homebrew working on your PSP". That is such bullcrap. If you read further down the page, there is a question. The question is simply answered. I shall quote it.
Quote: Q: hello, is it possible to downgrade v2.5 to 1.5?? if i buy this item you will ship me the downgrade program it self? thank you
16-May-06
A: NO my friend, this is an alternative to downgrading your PSP, It is possible for 2.0 but not 2.01+. You can still play the same emulators and homebrew as you would on a 1.5 (no isos though) without downgrading. Cheers! PS. I send you the guide over the internet so you get it immediately and no shipping charges!
What the hell is that? For $4, he will send you a guide on how to do things you already know how do to. Or, at least, if you are actually reading these posts carefully, you should already know how to do all of it. You don't need to buy an "online guide" on how to do these things. It's the internet. You can get anything free.
People that scam others like this should be shot in the face multiple times. Feel free to aim and take fire at this guy.
If you fell for this cheap trick, you should also be shot.. Just not in the face. Perhaps, the hands. That should stop you from making any other useless online transactions from E-Bay.
