SMG,
Look back up at my earlier post and follow the steps I told Mahogany to do. I have a different DVD burner than you do but that's it. I have Windows XP, Sony DRU-500AX DVD burner, and I use only 3 programs to get ONLY the movie and NO extras. I've made about 19 backups now with NO failures.

Ok, look start with these programs, you can get them off the net if you don't have them.

1. Get "DVD Decrypter"
2. Get "DVD2ONE"
3. Get "NERO EXPRESS" ( I suppose any DVD burning program will work, I use nero express)

Step 1. Insert the original movie into either the DVD burner or your DVD-rom drive doesn't matter.

Step 2. If Power DVD or whatever starts to run the movie, just close it. Start DVD Decrypter, on start up DVD Decrypter will automatically detect the main movie files. Just click the button that has the icons of a disc and harddrive. DVD Decrypter automatically creates the folders needed for the movie.
When DVD Decrypter is done, close it because you no longer need it.

Step 3. Start DVD2ONE. The first blank box says "Source Directory" and a button that says "Select". Click the button and go to where DVD Decrypter created that folder. Click on that folder and there should be another folder that's labeled "Video_TS". Click on that folder. So, now in the "Source Directory", you should have something like "C:\Signs\Video_TS". You're done with the "Source Directory".
The next box is "Destination Directory" with a "Select" button as well. Click on the button and pick a folder, I always use a Temp folder. You're done with the "Destination Directory".
Then click on Next at the bottom. You'll see another screen that has something like AC3 6 channel, angle, and language. Usually "angle" is the only one that's checked so you'll need to check the other two. Click on the next button. When DVD2ONE is done, just close it because you won't need it anymore.

Step 4. Start Nero Express and select DVD files to burn. When you do this another window will open and on the right side you'll see an "add" button. Be sure that you have the right directory, this is the folder that you saved the modified files in from DVD2ONE. Once you have it selected, you'll see several files in the files window. You to select all the files and click the "add" button. Then click the "finish" button. When this happens the window will close and you now see Nero Express again. Open the DVD burner and insert a DVD-"RW" NOT a "DVD-R". This is so if you have done something wrong, you don't waste a DVD-R. At this point just click the button to start the burning process. Once Nero Express is done, close Nero Express and check out the movie. As long as you're home DVD players can handle "RW" then you should be able to put the "RW" in the player and if it's done right the movie should start playing. If it does then you're ready to burn the movie to a DVD-R. I used a "RW" for the first couple of times to make sure I was doing it right and after that I stopped.

That's it!
Enjoy!

Thanks alot Clone. I didn't think anyone was going to be able to explain it in a way to where I would actually be able to do it. But by God you did. Of course, I am going to be using RecordNowMax, so I guess I won't be able to use any of the nero stuff, but Thanks alot for getting me thru the first 2 (decrypter and dvd2one). Those were the 2 which in my mind were going to be the hardest anyway.
God Bless You

I hope im not repeating anything here. But this is how i make copies of everything.

I use the following programs:

DVDDecrypter (dvddecrypter.com)
dvd2one (dvd2one.com)
copytoDVD (www.vso-software.com)

First you need to check if the dvd is dual or single layer. Load up DVDDecrypter. From the "Mode" menu, choose ISO, then choose "Read"

In the information page, it will say how many layers. If its one layer, then you can skip using dvd2one software (next step), and proceed to the final step. Click the image at the bottom of the dvd decrypter program to begin extraction. This will make a copy on your hard drive. This will include all the audio/video (the entire dvd)

If the dvd is dual layer, you must use dvd2one software. This is a very easy process. Simply select the source (the folder you just made with decrypter) and the target folder. Run and your done :)

Final step is to burn your backup copy of the dvd. Simply load up copy2dvd software. Choose "Write DVD Video" from the Project menu. Select the video file and the copy will burn.

I never have a problem with this method.

I had problems last week trying to backup "The Ring". I was using DVD Toolbox (free) from vso software (makers of dvd2one and copy to dvd). I used this instead of dvd decrypter and had no problems until this copy. When i tried to use dvd2one, i got a windows error. I tried on 2 computers and no luck. I finally did some research and found dvd decrypter didnt have these problems. I used it and made a perfect copy. IT also has more options than dvd toolbox does as well.

Good luck and let me know if i can help further.
