My Ps2 won't load any disc's - PLEASE HELP!

i tried everything but the voltage adustment I do not know if I really need to do that still nothing, the grinding still occurs as soon and the power button is green but the cd drive no longer delays when I open it

Edit: I cleaned out the white piece hanging on the laser and reput it on the gear and no MORE grinding on startup now im just getting the traditional disk read error

I threw in a PS1 disk just for the hell of it and it read it but as a PS2 disk but it would not load up, now I threw in a PS2 disk (non-backup) and it WORKS now I will test a backup

Backup failed the test so now is it safe to confirm that there maybe a modchip error? what can I do?

It still might need the laser gain adjustment, or it could be a problem with the media that you are using.

the thing is on my modchip when I play the non-backup copies of the game I have to hold down reset and the chip knows that that type of disk is to be read now i can just boot it up normal and put it in which is the procedure for playing a backup copy.

Edit: when i do the shutoff procedure i can play PS1 games but when i dont it reads it as a blueback ps2 disk so it could be the laser then

PROBLEM SOLVED:

Heres what i did when i was realigning the laser and putting it back on the worm gear right i played around with the laser height wheel behind (the white one) but i forgot to mark its original position, actually i toyed with this first then realigned the laser with the worm gear. So when i finally put everything together i had almost spun it back into position but it was one off so i adjusted that now everything is back to normal.

for anyone else having this problem I'd advise first to check the white piece on the laser and make sure the screw that connects that to the laset is tight mine was loose in this case. Put it back on the gear and if it still dont work play with the height of the laser you will save yourself a lot of time

do you know where the white gear is on the slim line for adjusting the laser and the height of it because i cannot find it at all.

my problem is totally not solved any games works when i play with the lid to the Ps2 off but when its on only like one game that works could it be im screwing it in wrong?

umm sorry cant help you out but I'm sure you should be able to find some pictures of one opened up somewhere on this forum or someone else who has one can help you out

you could be screwing it on too tight maybe but im not sure or maybe something is grinding against the ps2 in the inside which is making the laser not being able to read the discs properly.
