Okay first off i got a new ver PS2 last year just about this time and i had the system for 6 months and the DVD drive stop working,Why because i was doing something to my PS2 im not going into details about that(i voided the warrenty by what i was doing to my PS2).I took it back to EBgames the guy told me my warrrnty was out with the store(because i never bought the extend warrenty).So he told me to call Sony and ask them what to do.I call Sony talk to a Sony service tech he told me to send my ps2 back they would fix it free of charge.Just because you had problem with Sony dont mean that everyone is dnglebry.This was the only time i ever called Sony.They fixed my system free of charge shipped it back within a month.No problems none of this BULL you talking about dnglebry.

Lol, you started a precedent there Dr. Cool! Has anyone on the forums had a really bad experience with Sony regarding customer service? Personally I'm really not keen on buying another warranty for nearly the cost of a game to go with the console... and I really don;t thinka consumer should be put in the situation where they feel the need to. I must say my PS2 is a bit skippy with DVD's but I think it may be because I've used some fairly average media in there, and as Toikijin, has said they ruin the laser. For the amount of hours I played the damn thing though, I must say I trust Sony's hardware enough to waive the noominal fee for a warranty at EB when I choose to pick a PS3 up...

Oh I'm not buying on the first day man lol, there's no way I'll be able to afford it! I want a 360 first and I need to allieve myself of debt and faulty car parts lol! I'll wait until late December/Early January - hopefully a sale, but either way I'll have some cash from being able to work alot on the holidays :D

damondash : Sup?long time no see...Yeah I have to aggree I don't think many will need a warranty. I have had both the clunky ps2 and the slim one and never had a problem.I think warranties and protection plans are a way for companies to make money as you will most likely not need it.
If you guys need a warranty why not get a third party service like circuit city or bestbuy?The ps3 will most likely have a standard 1 year manufacturer's warranty anyways!!!!!

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Not true,I have not had a single problem with MS or pretty much any other company ive dealt with.but i guess thayts just me,all i know is ive heard many a great thing about MS honoring their warranties unlike sony but thats only what ive hear on the whole.

yeh but some have manners and follow that thing called the law.If they offer a warranty then must follow it.MS intentions seems to be a little more lighthearted but hey then again they did lose the last war so who knows although i doubt it was cause of customer service.i agree that they are trained to avoid costs but honroning a warranty shouldnt be one of those costs that are avoided if you want a happy customer.

Well It's my hope they do just saying.MS should honor it after all they are one of the richest companies in the world.I personaly have never had to deal with support from sony because both My ps2's never broke.
But from my other warranty experiences the companies were all the same .Basically their way was to do everything they can to not honor it.Plus shipping charges are a pain.
by the way when you read it they get past the law with small print like "act's of god".Now come on what "acts of god" are going to damage your game machine(with the exception of a storm).The aggreement is a mile long and basically at the end the warranty covers nothing!

At least until you can afford any of the consoles. Then you can see which one's titles and gameplay suit you best. As for myself I just saw a trailer of MGS4... The plot thickens lol.

Yeah my pc games are pretty good I can play some of the xbox 360 ports at the moment like oblivion,cod2,gun,tomb raider legend,...etc.All for free!!!!So I'll be ok if I can't afford one at launch.My friend has a 360 and he let's me play when I come over.

Yeah. Games like GTA in my opinion felt way better with a gamepad than a Keyboard and Mouse combo. The only games I like playing on PC are fps, RPG and strategy type games. Driving games suck because the keyboard doesn't allow for refined control.

But gamepad support is getting better and better.I'm not talking about emulator garbage that comes with your gamepad.Like gta san andreas has great gamepad support it feels just like a freakin console.The thing is only some gamepads are supported which is why I get logitech cause their supported.Yeah most games are keyboard/mouse by default but can be changed under controls in the options menu.
