surely that was an insult saying others aren't as "gifted" as me, but i'll take that as a compliment because I know my hacks, and exploits, and am merely curious if this has been attempted on a psp
Yea and I'm the Prince of Bel Air. Honestly, bragging online doesn't do jack for you. Just makes it seem that you can't walk the walk in real life.

Yeah, and if you double post in the thread, people will really respond well to it too.

In all honesty, people will respond a lot better to your questions if the word "XBox" doesn't appear in the PSP threads. Also, the ideas you have suggested are not new. Having the ideas does not make you a pioneer, and suggesting this is something that makes a lot of people mad. It's a smack in the face. Last but not least, you mentioned that this scene is archaic(Yes, that's the proper spelling :D ), realistically, this scene is advancing infinitely faster than the XBox scene did. Let us not forget that the first softmods didn't hit the net until very late '03. And it wasn't even a known process, it was something a couple super elite users were doing.

As for chipping, I said it before, so I won't rub it in too much: The PSP's internal specs do not allow much room for anything. Aside from how incredibly tiny the chip would need to be, it would also be a pain to solder in their because ALL of the components are TINY in there. The chip scene will never take off big for PSP. And that's perfectly fine, because in honesty, the majority of the XBox scene doesn't use chips anyways.

Lastly. You vocalized one idea that actually made my dear little heart sad. You mentioned that you should be able to 'just solder a few pins' to mod the unit. This was a big nail in the coffin for the odds of anyone ever being helpful in this thread. The Sony PSP utilizes an early build of Sony's Cell Processor. It's an unknown processor in the computing world, and it works differently than anything else on the market, the pipeline structure, and the physical build of it is not like anything you might ever have seen anywhere else. You will never be able to 'just solder a couple points' to mod or "trick" the system. It's unfortunate, but it's a fact of life.

Oh, and most users in the XBox scene don't actually change the system's bios. That was an inefficient and archaic method.

the only thing i'm talking about soldering a few pins on is the BIOS CHIP, read closer if you want to bash

this has nothing to do with the motherboard or the pre-cell cpu... this is talking about changing the bios on the motherboard by actually tampering with it. desolder the chip perhaps (again something i dont plan on pioneering)

in various of my posts my QUESTIONS have turned into "oh so thats what you are claiming you are" .... thats not much of an answer guys

Does that make me a pioneer? just say "no, someone else has said this before" link please.

i kno most xbox users don't change the bios, alot of modders stick to the softmods. this isn't a pissing contest about which system will have the record time of getting modded the fastest, and aside from you "handsom", the people's responses here do make the psp scene seem archaic as it comes to trying something new. Everyone's waiting for the next softmod firmware downgrader.

Yes, everyone IS waiting for the new downgrader, etc. Unfortunately, Sony keeps pushing new protection methods, so this really isn't an optional ordeal. And considering how rapidly fixes, patches, and new loaders are created, it doesn't seem at all unreasonable. Realistically, once the XBox was cracked, there were no barriers. There are constant new barriers that are put up often to stop gamers from getting by. No one size fits all can be found yet, and there may never be one due to the way Sony protects this system.

As for a link. Let me put it this way. How many people honestly bought a PSP on day one for the games? Maybe 2/3 of the users, right? Why do you think the other 1/3 did? Because they wanted to dismantle this beautiful piece of hardware, reverse engineer it, and tinker around with it. If you google around, you'll find some very interesting articles on this. Also, due to the nature of the processor, I really doubt that desoldering it, or doing a hard bios mod (aside from a tiny overhead 'piggyback' style chip) will be possible. I do urge you to check google for this, I have found some amazingly detailed diagrams, provided you can understand electronics schematics and eletrical current diagrams, you'll have all the info you need. Unfortunately, judging from your posts, I am unsure of whether you will understand them, but the information is there for you to learn, and I do suggest looking at it, because it will boggle your mind. Quite a piece of hardware Sony has built us.

Anyways, the response to your titled question. Anything else at this point is truly irrelevant:

-DevHook .41 is the most compatible.
-UMDEmulator 0.8c is a good backup to have in case DH can't do your particular title right (In my case, Sudoku is being a nuisance to run)
-MPHLoader, some people love it, I'm not a big fan, it's a decent featured loader.

Between these and various ripkits, which are found easily, by searching the title here, or at maxconsoles.net, you should be able to run everything. The only exception to this rule seems to be the newest of the new titles, ones using 2.7 fw. And because they are currently so rare, it seems a crack has not yet been formulated, but that only affects a couple titles anyways.

Anywho, your title question has been answered, and I'm hoping you check google, and other forementioned resources, because the information is definitely available, unfortunately due to certain constrictions on this portable, the scene is forced to focus on one area, and in all honesty, given the force used against the scene, we are moving along at a rapid pace; and Sony is having a tough time keeping up for the most part. Overall, I'm pleased that Sony's protection schemes keep getting cracked so quickly, it's a great sign. Remember, no other system has had to be cracked so many different ways on such a large scale before. This is brand new territory, and while on your user end, it may not seem effective, look behind the scenes at what is being achieved, and you will understand how this scene is so active, and so different.

I really think that everything worth saying has been said in this thread. Hopefully everyone agrees. If you've got other questions, I'd be glad to try and help.
