without having a psp or doing any of this, when using disc images of new games do they force you to upgrade the firmware whenever you want to play them?

XBOX v1.0 X2 80GB XBMC pwns j00 || XBOX v1.6 nDUREs Softmods 120GB + HD
Xbox360 Samsung ms25 Xtreme 3.0 + 111d
PS2 v7 scph39001 Matrix Infinity GD

forGET the swap magic and hdloader!!! if you want convenience and have it 100% working, get a modchip.

okay i've done a little more reading, stumbled across devhook.... but my question is now for firmware 2.71, what about games that come packaged with that?

ALSO if i got a psp now it would likely come with a firmware higher than 1.5, how do i downgrade?

The 2.0 firmware is the highest that it is possible to downgrade with. If you get a psp with 2.01+ firmware then you will have to install the undiluted platinum modchip in order to play backup games which I believe costs $100 plus installation.

haha yeh, where are those pinouts located..... [bump] nobody's done this? [bump] u all suck.

thats what my posts will say if noone replies

Man you are all over the place again. Im guessing you have no idea in hell what you are talking about. Just because you have a soldering iron doesnt mean you are qualified to mess arounf with the insides of the psp. If you are that desperate, just spend the $100 and solder the chip in yourself, it will be the best wate of money ever lol.

ok, well thats lame.

the bios chip would only need two pinouts if it was like any...other..bios chip.

nobody here has done tsop or eeprom flashing xbox1? that scene is much larger so alot of ..say.. ambitious people have tried radical things.

okay, if noone's done it then I wont be the pioneer.

Seeing how this is a psp forum, i doubt it. Take that over to the Xbox forum where other people will know what the hell you are talking about. You are out of touch obviously, only today was the first mod chip released for the psp, so dont compare users of the psp with those that play Xbox.

Exactly. The xbox had some room for a mod-chip. The PSP doesn't and it's all tight quarters. You failed.

omg go away, this is my thread MIIINE

you can control xbox media center with a PSP, the ULTIMATE multimedia solution. forget waiting for the ps3 so u can use the psp's limited functions for media.

so even though you guys that don't check out other scenes, xbox users are all over the place

"so dont compare users of the psp with those that play Xbox. "

that was kind of about how xbox users are in tune with the psp scene making use of available hardware to improve functions of the xbox 1.

otherwise, this thread is kinda dead.

Uggggg...you were compring slodering a chip in the Xbox to doing the same in a PSP......you also implied that it shouldbt be difficult....thats what I was refering to. The Xbox has a bigillion mods and chips available, the psp has 1, the UP modchip. Thats what I was talking about to.

@rdxtreme

Hey, I've been into the XBox scene for about a year. And I must say that it never ceases to dissapoint me. There is SO MUCH to explore there. The XBox's open architecture is a breath of fresh air. It's about the easiest access system out their for homebrewers. I love it. I have mine equipped with XBMC. Because of it, I've been able to take my old genesis, nes, snes, and n64; and put them all in the closet, while still being able to enjoy the games I've purchased over the years.

I'm sure that you, and most people in the XBox scene would agree with me on that.

That said, I've got some other things that I would like to point out.

Quote:
The XBox's open architecture is a breath of fresh air.
...And the PSP's is not. I mean this in respective to both the hardware and the software. XBox coding bears strong resemblence to a lot of PC codes. And even then, look at how long it took for the community to get where it is. The PSP's software is NOT that friendly. It is loaded with new encryptions, protections, and garbage every day. The fact that I can put in my UMD of 'Me and My Katamari' and play it without HAVING to update is miracle enough as things are going. Everything that has developed thus far is just astounding.

This system, while an amazing little portable, is NOT friendly to homebrew programmers. It is a brand new language, bearing very little resemblence to other common programming languages. It can be done, as the scene has shown, but it will take time.

This pretty much sums up the mod chip issue. It is NOT a basic solder. It is a very intense, small area to work in, and between the size of the chip and the size of the hardware, I don't personally know a lot of people ready to risk their +$200 system to try it. Most of these people had the good sense to get one early on, and not update it. And they made a good call. The difficulty of a potential mod chip is excruciatingly high. I couldn't reccomend this to anyone.

The issue here is not whether the system can be hacked. The issue is when it will be. The actual 'chip' part of this scene does not have room to grow, because there isn't enough space and room for most users to comfortably get in and do this, it's very limiting to the scene's overall progress.

The PSP scene will not be where the XBox scene is now for a very long time... If ever. It's much more difficult and demanding.

Edit: I just want to point out, this is not meant to beat anyone down, flame, or anything like that. I love the XBox scene, and despite how much more effort is required, I love the PSP scene as well. I'm explaining a point, that is all.

this isnt about what youre gonna do with your psp once you brick it lol this thread was started and you asked do the discs force a firmware upgrade, so ffs stop going on about the xbox, nobody in this forum cares about it, unless they go to the xbox forum to care about it. otherwise, SHUT UP ABOUT THE XBOX! you've been completely off topic the whole way through this thread, and nothing has had anything to do with what you said at the start. you dont know anything about the chip for the psp, it is completely different from any xbox chip, so stop going like you soldered your b**** together.

YOU win some, YOU lose some, either way I WIN

personally i think all you guys are pussies for getting on edge for me mentioning the xbox. that just shows how archaic this scene is. I mentioned the xbox scene because it has evolved so much as to you your beloved handheld to CONTROL the xbox. I mentioned the xbox scene as they have been ambitious enough to tamper with the motherboard, find the bios chip and change it to a homebrew friendly hacked bios negating the need of a modchip.

I came to this scene asking if anyone has dared to find where the bios chip is on the psp and flash it to a lower bios.

Thanks handsom for your info, it is much more useful than anything else anyone has said in here.

Your not going to be around aD much longer, so dont get too comfortable. This is a psp thread, a psp forum. I know nothing about Xbox, and you are delusional to think we are all "gifted" (I use that lossely) like you.

The Xbox has been out since what, 2001? You've had 5 years to get to to the point that you're at now. The PSP has been out for just over a year.

so i'm pretty much a pioneer for even thinking about a solution to a problem instead of speculating or wishing?

i've cited xbox because the particular hack i'm mentioning has been done on it. dont confuse me for a x-scene fanboy, if i was mentioning using a UMD swap trick i'd reference PS2, Dreamcast or Saturn because of their disc swapping exploits.

if i was mentioning a memory card exploit i'd reference Gamecube, PS2, and the Xbox again

surely that was an insult saying others aren't as "gifted" as me, but i'll take that as a compliment because I know my hacks, and exploits, and am merely curious if this has been attempted on a psp
