Can't really say. I'm not a modder, nor have I ever soldered before. I can simply say whoever did yours clearly was inexperienced or rushed it, probably the latter. Professional mod jobs don't look like that, not even close.

Honestly man, we've done all we can do. If there's a reliable modder somewhere that want's to talk you through the process, go for it. They don't grow on trees, most of them worth their salt are busy with mods. Either contact a reliable modder, or look around for one to help you. Maybe I haven't been clear enough I am not a professional modder, I will not attempt to talk you through a procedure that could wreck your PS2 with one small misstep. Find someone who is and let them take care of it.

ok , i am sending the ps2 to a normal ps2 repair man, the way i see it is, i have removed the power on the chip so it must be fine so i will live with that so it must be the ps2. If it is the chip i will just have it removed and get a genuine matrix installed for £40. How does that sound.

Sounds good. You definitely made a good decision. I always error on the side of caution. A legit MI is the most reliable modchip on the market in my opinion. I forget mine's even there half the time, ultra reliable and very stable. One of my best friends has one after using Swap Magic non stop, he's had zero issues with it and plays it round the clock. Nobody I know that has a legit MI installed by a reliable modder has had any issues.

Cool, I'll doubt you'll have any problems then. The MI is super reliable. Good luck!

I'd recheck all your wires, sounds like one might be loose. If it persists, send it to a pro. http://www.teammodders.com does great work, modded my Xbox and my PS2.

Honestly man, no offense, but there isn't anymore I can do to help you. Soldering is beyond my expertise and any of the knowledgeable modders who used to hang out here are long gone. Your best bet is to send it to Davbere or someone reputable and have them sort it out. It's probably a soldering issue to begin with. The PS2 is difficult to mod, it's nothing like the GameCube, or Xbox. I'd recommend sending it to http://www.teammodders.com and let them check it out.
