The intresting thing is, Team Omega (makers of DuoQ) claim it will work with multi-game discs (checked on their site). But, they also claim 100% compatibility with all game cube versions :/

Quote:

Neither would boot with the Duo-Q

I am thinking this might have something to do with loading the different QOOB BIOS, while duoQ/Xeno uses the original on board Nintendo BIOS.

Yes, I saw that Xeno is wireless. However, I would probably use wires, if it made sense to. It seems like a board soldered to another board is a odd way to go. I would have to see it in person to decide.

I am also using Ritek G05 and they work great. I googled for the best price and swung under 20c USD, including shipping :) Also, I have used some PRODISCF01. TY03 are not working for me (Taiyo Yuden, or whatever they are called). But keep in mind nothing booted until the board swap.

I should have gotten a Xeno... (Qoob seems like paying for some features I would not use).

I know the Qoob cost more but it pays for itself if you are *aquiring* lots of games, simply with the price of media and the convinience of less space taken - many games are 30mb, 100mb, 300mb, 600mb, and so on.

I have some multi disks with as many as 6 games on them. I wouldn't give away the ability to boot multi-game-disks for $20 or even $30, but that's just me.

Either way, a modded cube is groovy :)

Happy gaming,
Craig

emu_kidid? You wouldn't happen to be the emu_kidid that develops GCOS, would you? If so, I'd just like to compliment you on the excellent work you've done. I'm really looking forward to using the latest version on my qoob Pro once it's stable :)

Anyway, back on topic. Yes, the XenoGC is wireless. Not like that makes things any easier, especially if you don't have a soldering iron with a very pointy tip. Also, you can't use multi-game discs on it either. The problem is that the XenoGC and DuoQ don't have a file manager implemented whereas GCOS, ViperGC BIOS, and qoob BIOS do.

Thanks goes out to theridges for the userbars :)

Okay, DOL-101.. here's the thing. DOL-101 units use the revised bios which gives the disc exactly 12 seconds to have fully spun up and be recognized. Cheap media and if it's a big disc also will probably not make it in time and therefor will not work.

This is the same for XenoGC or DuoQ. This comes from the XenoGC author himself.

Oh, sorry! I missed your message earlier. This means that either will have a similar issue on DOL-101, and this timer problem explains why some had success with smaller media. So I guess it *could* work on all systems provided you use mini-media, right? It is all clearer with all your help. Thanks all!

You're a GC HomeBrew developer?, Cool, I have been meaning to try out some simple console apps/games. Just wondering, but, are you using GCC for mips instruction set (standard mips, patched or something), or are you just writing straight up op-code/MIPS assembly to develop (GameCube is a MIPS inst set, isn't it)? Just curious.. I am into embedded systems stuff. It would be fun for me to play around in :) But I was hoping people were at least using a high level language lol... but if not it's all good, I guess.

I was going to load GCOS through on a standard DVD, padded of course, to 1.4gb. That should do it, right? I was wondering though, does the GCOS do something with multi-game disc booting?.. If so I am in business! :)

So, has anyone gotten multi-game discs to boot on DuoQ or XenoGC since, I think, they both seem to claim this functionality (or maybe they mean multi disc games..?, but in that case, who would care lol).

yep i'm the same emu_kidid from GCoS.

Xeno,DuoQ both claim multi-game Discs to work, but they mean they will work through the use of something like GCoS.

I wouldn't waste a DVD-R on GCoS 1.5, I would wait till GCoS 1.X is released. It will work with XenoGC and DuoQ and multigame etc.

Cool. I guess I will wait for the new version. Do you own/work on the site: http://www.gamecubeos.com ? It does not look like you want to talk about the development stuff, so I will check out your source and examples on there. Sorry if I was bothering. Looks like fun stuff.

Yes www.gamecubeos.com is moderated by me, but I don't find the time to update it these days and I find forums alot more interactive with response.
