I couldn't give a crap about my rank, but....I would like a meter or something that tells me how many posts I need to make outside of the safety valve to get to the next rank.

i think this would be cool,as for like being a dumb arse
the mods should have a revert back to newbie button for a couple of days..
the 3-min wait on posting and being a newbie again..would drive them crazy..
in stead of using the ban button..for those above newbie starting with Junior Member
that sure would straighten there clock out real quick

But rav posted a whole sh*t load of post in the safety valve. As for me I posted 2467 post but I will obtain the higher level in the 3000 post because I posted at least 500 alone in the safety valve.

I see all your points of view and do understand that the valve does not count which i agree with but why then does it actually increase on your account page should it not be able to do that??

I'm subscribed to the "What are you listening to?" thread & I come in for a chat now and again, just for a break from the forums, don't forget that I've been helping people for the last year, so I see this as a great achievement...
Seems as if thoose who post in the game forums (like yourself) hit Addict inside a few monthes (Svtsang, iPirate, TheReturn), they must be fast.

post counts for those type of posts (console posts) are in the main, easy to achieve, as a lot of them are less than 1 line long, damn annoying to read too; it's just a bunch of "lol" or "yeah i agree" or "you're gay" or whatever; sometimes we even get whole paragraphs that make sense too

If you want to know how many posts you have in a particular forum (Safety Valve or Off Topic) you can go to "My Account" and then "See list of your forum posts"..then start counting. It's a pain, but you will know how many posts you have and where they are.

personally, i wonder who could really care about what posts are in what forum? does it really matter? then again, who really cares about rank? whoops, digression starting.
on a slightly related note, i will hit 6666 posts next week, and i plan on a small party. :-P week after, i should hit 6969....that will be party number 2.

If anyone who cared enough to start a thread of this nature they might be inclined to look into alternative ways to find out their posts counts in a particular forum.
I'm still approaching 6000 posts...right behind you. If they would disable member ranking all together with the exception of Mods, Admin and Staff Members and maybe just show your post count these threads may stop popping up.

i think post counts should be removed from console forum posts. (in fact i should request this of the Admins); maybe then some of the utter crap posting will cease (and along with it a lot of irrelevant questions like status and post counts would decrease); i am sick and tired of reading thru kiddie posts full of pointless little one liners such as "lol" and you're gay" and "what console is better than what console". ARGHHHHHHHHHh /end rant

there's a reason i only step into the console forums about once a month, and even then it's rare i get to a point where i'm actually helping someone because of the lunatic kids on there. it's just like walking into some kind of natural disaster and damage control scene.

cheers; all it is, i'm (as usual) wondering why i bother; at least in the more adult forums (for the most part) people co-exist and more importantly tend to post more than two syllables in posts and have stuff to offer in info and help. All the good work us mods and you good posters do seems to go to pot when i read the endless crap that the bored kids 'post' in sooo many pages of pointless twaddle. it's not that us mods can't keep up with it, it's that there's just no point to most of that stuff. i think we need another Admin-sanctioned banning spree to cleanup some of the crap

the problems with that include immature posters that would destroy good ranks and promote undeserving karma, clog the servers a bit more, and add a new level of ruthlessness to the forums, among other things. i think everything should be based on reputation, alone.
