Upgrading is easier and also safer. Just put the update in ms0:/PSP/UPDATE and click on the update icon in GAME-->Memory stick.
You can get the 2.71 Update from here:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/47
And you can always downgrade from 2.71 later on if you decide to change your mind.

They can both play the same games. Its just that some homebrew are not compatible in firmware 2.71 and require fixing. But there are very few homebrew like this, so I wouldn't worry about that.

well they are almost the same but downgrade to 1.5 for some ppl it's scrary a guess that is why they upgrade to 2.71 and use the 2.71 devhook.but still even if u do not like the 2.71 method u can still downgrade to 1.50 if ur psp is not a TA-082.i think the psp to ps3 remote connection works.u should try it

Hello guys! I hope someone can help me with my problem.
I used to have a 2.60 Firmware.. then saw your updates for 2.71 with Devhook... So I upgraded mine to 2.71 with DevHook and really enjoyed it.. playing ISO games. Suddenly I downloaded an X-men game which requires a 2.80 firmware... Browsed from site to sites and ended up seeing a site with topic regarding a Firmware 3.01 and an ULTIMATE INSTALLER... DevHook 051 i think? Anyways.. heres what I did:
1 - Created an "UPDATE" folder on GAMES (on my Memory Stick) and placed the Firmware 3.01 that I've downloaded.... and run the update.
2 - Run the ULTIMATE INSTALLER.... then tried loading up PSAR dump
3 - NOW i'm stuck.
Someone told me I shouldnt have upgraded to 3.01... what did I do wrong? Is there anyway I can install DevHook on my 3.01 in order play ISO games again?
Thanks!
PSP 2.71.. saw the updates on devhook for 3.01... I upgraded to firmware 3.01 but can't install devhook. Need help please. I tried the ultimate installer but not luck. Email me at arth_lapus@yahoo.ca

1. Can you tell me where I should place emulators ( ex. NesterJ) on my MS?
2. A good site for downloading ISO's?
ANSWER

isohunt.com
torrentspy.com
place emulators in PSP/GAME
put the files NesterJ and NesterJ% in PSP/GAME
these might not be the exact file names but you should be able to figure it out.

(2) torrentpond is a very good website to download iso but you need a torrent thing to download such as utorrent.com and download software. then go to the first website I told you and download anything you want and put it to download on that software.
posted by tehjoker
1. In the /PSP/GAME folder
2. Not sure if I can give you direct links to the site but go to google and search for torrentspy and isohunt.

We can't link to ISOs in this forum. Use torrents to download ISOs.
Put your emulators in ms0:/PSP/GAME
Ok Im kinda lost now because you said I would need to place NesterJ and %NesterJ in the PSP/GAME folder. But after downloading NesterJ I only got one folder. Could it be a bad download? If so is there a good place to fetch emulators made for the PSP because I have plenty of ROMS, just not the emulators.

you should have enough room on a 32 MB stick. The only reason you would need a 2GB stick is if you're storing more then a gig of info on your psp's memcard.

After you have used and installed the application then you're free to delete it. When will you need the 2 gig stick. Hmm well that's hard to say. If you play alot of iso files then you'll want a 2 gig stick. The main reason I bought mine tho is for ripping games. If you have alot of music/vids then it would be a good idea to have a 2 gig. It just depends on how you or someone else uses their psp.

try opening that one folder.
A good download should consist of 2 folders.
One with the emulators name in it.
another with the emulators name followed by a %
Each of these two files should consist of an eboot.pbp
In the folder without a % symbol there should be a folder like ROMS or GAMES. put your roms here.
