It works good. But I don't know if I'd go that far. I have CloneDVD 2, but I haven't used it in a long time. I use AnyDVD most of the time though. I don't have any problems and I've backed up most of the troublesome releases mentioned. With good decryption most of the transcoders and encoders will work okay.

My best bet is AnyDVD and DVDShrink. This was my first time that
I use CloneDVD2, and I was happy because I was able to decrypt Saw III at last.

@CD0728, Any luck posting the AnyDVD 6.1.0.3 status screen on SAW III? Again I'd like myself and everyone to see whats on the SAW III in terms of encryption. Thanks.:P

Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing a shot of the copy protection myself.
My guess is since it's a Liongate it probably similar to Cranks - Sony ARccOS, Puppetlock, 8 bad sectors etc.

With the confirmation from above, I foresee a lot of newbies are going to ask tons of questions, LOL. However, I'm "not" going to worry about it.
Again, after the ripping process, I highly recommend running FixVTS or have VobBlanker or PgcEdit to blank out any suspicious cells, vts or pgcs to prevent your backup from "looping" or getting cripple.
Welcome to the real world of "editing."

OK here's my report
- RIPIT4ME fails even reading the drive
- AnyDVD along with Nero recode 2 burns just fine (DVD5 or DVD9) however resulting dvd won't playable, it is weird
- AnyDVD along with clonedvd2 burned with ONLY the movie same result, the output didn't play, it play when you analyze with Nero recode 2
there are 40 protected cells in this DVD some new protection obviously, gotta find a way to rip/copy
some guy said he burned with AnyDVD and clonedvd2 (only the movie tho) but no when i do that it completes but movie won't play on a dvd player
anybody actually succeeded ripping this let me know...
(hey guys i am no noob :) )

Are you using the latest FixVTS or RipIt4Me? Have you tried to "blank & delete" some of them useless cells, pgcs or vts and run it through the latest VobBlanker? Or if you can, then it's wise to "delete or blank" some menus to prevent from looping as well.
Most of Lions Gates and newer Sonys usually can cause your backup to "loop" and or "cripple" so your backup can't play.
Hmmm... I'll be sure to grab one when it's out on Tuesday for sure and see what's going to happen. Afterall, SAW III is pretty good -- I saw it at the big screen when it first came out and I sure want to own the DVD now.

If you haven't already try DVDFab Decrypter to rip w/ - then run thru VobBlanker or FixVTS.
The disc play on the pc just not the player?
The most I've ever seen AnyDVD report for bad sectors is 9 - 40 is really pushing it :)
Totally lame answer but you may want to email SlySoft and see if they have an answer. You could always zip & send them the ifo files too.
I'd love to get this one early but will more than likely be the 23rd when I pick it up.

i personally start to dislike dvdfab, it doesn't work as the older versions do, it doesn't get pass the analyzing the disc even on saw 3
the output plays on powerdvd 7 if you specifically open the file
(VTS_08_1.VOB 2 3 4 and 5) these are 0.99gb you know.
but when you choose disc mode and select the video_ts folder then powerdvd freezes. so my answer should be 'no it doesn't even work on the pc'
any work around on SAW III ?

try ripping it to the HD with the AnyDVD ripping checking the box "Remove unreferenced and blank cells" then transcode with CloneDVD 2 "doing the movie only" and burn no faster than 8x with good blank media (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim) and let us know how you come out

I can sometimes buy them early but I don't think I can on this one.
And I would love to get this one early just to play.
Hang tight if you can - AnyDVD has had 3 beta versions out these past few days so looks like they are really working on it.
They haven't let me down yet so .....
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong or confused :) but Puppetlock and ARccOS are Sony's protection scheme and the rest of the typical pattern that AnyDVD displays.
Lions Gate may be owned by them or bought the copy protection from them?
Kinda funny cause a coworker of mine has a film distributed by Lions Gate (Fear of Clowns) and no new stuff on it :0)
edit: typos, grammar :)

@binkie
You are correct, most of Lions Gate DVDs are encrypted with Sony's ARccOS and Puppetlock. Personally, I think ARccOS and Puppetlock are much tougher/nastier than Macrovision's RipGuard.
Back to the subject (SAW III), hmmm.... I would love to see how complicated this goes when it's out on this coming Tuesday. Anyhow, like always, I have my trust with both DVDFab Decrypter and RipIt4Me with the helps from VobBlanker to blank/delete out corrupted/suspicious cells, vts, pgcs and FixVTS to blank and process afterward.

Haven't seen Saw III yet but loved the first 2 so it's definitely on my hit list.

vkn interested in more information using ripit4me first are you using the 1.6.4.0? Second when you said the disk did not read can please try to start ripit4me then insert disk once you get the notification about the autoplay being blocked then play the dvd using any kind of software player for a few seconds, then try using the one click method to rip the dvd. Also be sure AnyDVD is not running. Thank You.

Did we need to know that? ;)

I've noticed the same studioes using different levels of copy protection on their releases. I guess they want to protect some more than others. With the AnyDVD info window, I've gotten used to scanning to see what's protecting the DVDs. I'll probably buy Saw III to see what's on it. I've got the other 2. I hope this doesn't turn into a "Friday the 13th 103" deal.

lol - that's what I do - wait the few secs for AnyDVD to analysis it then give me the info. I'd probably be lost w/o that feature :)
So far the Saw movies haven't let me down in liking them but yeah how far can they push it.
@vkn
Yep a little more info than we need (may want to edit that out of your post - hint forum rules)
