Just a question, you can backup a backup without opening the 360 up right? I can just put a backup into my Samsung DL DVD rom drive, and use Nero to burn it? how do I change the booktype of my DVD rom?

thanks
You can do it as you have said above, but the copy doesnt need to be put in the kreon drive, it can be put in an ordinary dl dvd reader drive. I would recommend you booktype the media, I do so even though it isnt really necessary with xtreme 5.2, and if you are making a image using DVD Decrypter, then yes, you do need to burn it using the .dvd file, because this contains the layerbreak information, and tells the burner when to start copying onto the second layer of the disk.
Hope that helps
Actually, you cant "re rip" the game in the kreon drive, due to the fact it wont rip the backup.
Actually, if you have the older vcersion of imgburn, you can rip (opk read the game iso with DVD Decrypter and then burn with imgburn as an iso.
Did lost planet that way, no worries.

And did you have to do anything about setting your DVD burner to Book type or anything? And what about the layer breaks, if I rip with Decrypter and then burn with Imgburn, I won't have to set those breaks?

I'm looking at the settings in Imgburn, and at the book type options for my Samsung burner, when I try to change it for DL + disks, it says that my drive doesn't support it. Is that okay, as I'm trying to just back-up back-ups?

It's been my experience Samsung drives don't work for burning 360 games because you can't change the book type with them with Imgburn, DVD Decrypter or DVDInfoOro. It's ironic since Samsungs are the best 360 drives due to 5.2 firmware and the only PC drive that can rip 360 games is a Samsung.

That definitely is ironic, and in my case, annoying.
Does it matter if my drive is set to booktype even though the games I want to burn are already backups? So, far I used DVD Decrypter to rip Need for Speed Carbon, and it came out as a 7 or so gig ISO file.
I thought I would be able to just rip with Decrypter and then burn with IMgburn or Nero if I was just burning backups.

Besides the 111d, I also have a Benq 1655 and a Sony DRU-710a. Although both support booktyping, I have used both for 360 games and both have burnt backups just fine without setting the booktype.

From what I understand you can't burn 360 games with Nero, because it's doesn't let you put the layer break in the right place. You can always try burning one with Imgburn without changing the booktype and see what happens. I tried a few on a Samsung burner and they didn't work. I ended up getting a new burner.

Nero doesnt work well when burning ripped games, well at least for me it doesnt, I only use Nero to make a 1:1 copy of an already made backup, never get any coasters through this method, I use XBC to make my iso's and burn them, I rip my games through the samsung sh-d162 and I burn my games in a liteon dual layer ext burner, excellent combination, gives me perfect backups everytime. ;)
But dont have much time to play games!!! :(

And how exctly do I do a 1:1 copy? Is it just selecting copy DVD from the menu?

I used to use the old version of imgburn and DVD Decrypter
use DVD Decrypter to read the full iso save to your hdd somewhere
then use imgburn to burn the iso
but new verwion of imgburn is a bit iffy with this method

1:1 copies are only for backups, yes, you just make a quick copy, which means burning one disk from drive X to drive Z, where X and Z represent your drive letters.

The way I do it is read the game (backup) with DVD Decrypter, save in a folder (choose iso setting) it will save an iso and an mds file
open imgburn, use the settings you use for burning your 360 games (bitsetting, layer break info etc) and burn the mds file
not had a coaster yet......touch wood:-). I have to make backups of my backups cos my 3 year old likes chewing em!
I use verbatim and pioneer dvr112
but I have also had sucess with hp DL (though I dont recommend them over verbatime) and a NEC and lite-on dvr drive

Hi!
Need some help from yo9u, guys!
I tried to do several copies from xbox backups but they're not working and I guest the problem should be the layer break definitions.
I tried to directly copy from the backup to a fresh DVD+R DL, but none of the tries went ok....
You state we should use the layer break definitions used on the backup, but are these definitions all the same for every xbox 360 game?
Otherwise, how can I get de .dvd file used for byrning the iso, if I only have the backuo disk itself?
I really need your help, since all I've been producing while trying to copy backups are coasters...
The only way I am having success is burning from images available...
Regards,
Ricardo

If its only a problem with your own images, then your not doing something right, what program/method are you using to make your iso files?

The iso files were downloaded, and if I burn them with IMG Burner it goes ok!
But after that, I've been trying to copy the backups directly to other media with no success...
I guest the problem is that I haven't been defining the layerbreak value....
What do you think?

But I thought if you are just doing a 1:1 copy then you don't need to set the layer break.

Ah, good. But you do have to have a DVD burner that you can change the Booktype with, right?

Hi!
The booktype of my burner is always set to dvd-rom.
But, jus tell me, what sooftware do you use to nake a 1:1 copy? Is there any in special? I tried with no luck.
The only way is to mak an image on ImgBurn of the backup and then burn it with the layerbreak definition!
Regards
