Exactly. I have a soldering iron and I actually did my own gamecube chip. Funny enough, the controller they sent with the system(bought it used from EB) had a faulty A or start button(I forget, whichever works through the menu screen). When I put my gamecube back together, I thought I screwed it up because the controller wouldn't go past a screen because it was screwed up. I spent hours going back over the solder work and online help to figure out what I did wrong. Took it to a friends, popped in his controller, and it worked fine.

I don't want to go through a mess like that again. That time it was fine and it was my own fault for not testing the controller/system before trying to mod(was eager). My soldering iron....needs to be thrown away and I'd have to get the soldering wick cause I found having too much was often my problem and it was hard to work around. Overall, I'll be spending more money on equipment and WAY more worrying about the system if I do it myself. Too bad this alternative is gone though.
