He should try reading the main page here at AD. The top story was "Microsoft Announces Hi Def Promotions".
I know we were talking about the games being HD, but I thought he said something about the 360 itself not being HD.

Hey Bhetrick........or what ever you call yourself
You sound really tough.......... whay don't you..............
If I were you I would watch my language before you are reported to a
mod & have you suspended.
Why are you getting so excited, it's only a freaking video game.
Is Microsoft giving you brownie points for defending them????
it's o.k, I have all gaming consols, probably more than what you can dream of, and I know exactly what each can do.
Have a wonderful life..........

Before this thread heats up and mods have to get involved let stop this. The question has been answered. Xbox 360's are HD in all respects.
Lets just leave it at that.

Ya... you've proven this already.
And I'll give you this much... I apoligze for the language. Not because of your threat but because I'm probally twice your age and realize how immature it is. It just bothers me when someone can post such utter nonsence as you have and then try to argue it. But in all fairness, you didn't know that the 360 can play in hd. Atleast now you do.

O.K Bhetrick, lets skahe hands like civilized people.
As for age, not sure how old you are (when you say you are probably twice my age) but I'm in the mid 30's, which probably makes you 65-70
arguing over video games, hd, etc.........
In any case, No I didn't quite know that 360 games are HD.
I have regular 360 (not elite, the black one with hdmi) so if I play 360 games & have it hooked up to my Sony HDTV which is capable of up to 1080P, I should have remarkable graphics, correct?

I'm 36 so that puts you and I in the minority. I assumed right off the bat you were some young teen. Once again... my bad. I normally don't fly off the handle like I did.
Your 360 will play at 1080p. But not through the component cables. It will through the vga cables.

You are talking about the blue, red & green correct?
There is also small switch on the cable that says "TV or HDTV"

I can play back-up ga,es on my 360 so don't know if that will make a difference, meaning if I can play hd dvd movies.

The only way you can play HD-DVDs on your 360 is if you buy the add on drive. Even if it's modded, it uses a different kind of laser so it won't read HD-DVD disk.

Let me get this straight, just to beat a dead horse. You go on directly stating that 360 games are not HD. Then turn around and say you actually had no idea. If you had no idea, why did you even say you did by saying they didn't?
Then you say you you know what all your consoles can do yet have no idea about anything a 360 can do, or what you need to do to get what you want.
360 plays HD-DVD movies only through a add-on HD DVD player, that come august 1, will sell for 170 or so dollars + 5 free movies.

We posted at the same time, but I didn't even remember that it was the same guy who supposedly "knew" that the 360 wasn't HD.

I don't know about him, but I live in North America also, and I think he was just saying that they were already out, but that a new price would be set and they would include 5 free HD-DVD movies as of August 1st.

I can't speak for anyone else, but as for me, I'm calm, and have been through this whole thread, just trying to explain to you that the 360 is full HD. I don't think I'll be participating in any of those activities however, since I'm only 16.

I was explaining the price drop, was it really "that hard to grasp".
As for the second part, its really not about games and Hd-DVD at all. Its about, the nicest way I can put this; dumb people. You make claims, then when proved wrong, you switch your defense just to avoid yourself embarrassment. It has nothing to do with the subject, but just yourself as a person, its just sad.
I wont post here anymore either, the question has been answered.

I have a regular 360 too, and it still does 1080. It even came with the cables tyo do hd. And you've NEVER played HD!?!? Once you do, it will look completely different. Almost real on the right tv.

Tks for input, someone told me earlier that it's better to use
VGA cables versus cables that come with the consol.
Is there much difference between these two?
Well as for playing these games on the right TV, I do have exactly what it takes.
I have 60" Sony SXRD (HDTV which also does 1080P) but it's rear projection but I am rather reluctant to play games on it, afraid it might damage TV. Right now I have it hooked-up to another standard
32" TV.

The vga cable is needed for 1080p resolution. I did notice a big difference with switching from the component (r,g,b) to the vga.

You can also rent HD movies off of Live, if you don't want to buy the HD-DVD add-on.
