I have the XBOX,
I have ALL the files you zipped (USBVIEW, AR games saves etc...)
I have a memory stick
AND the USB-XBOX cable should arrive today..
The BIG question now is, as well as your hacked gamesaves, do i need a copy of either SC, 007 or MA? or is this a more refined method of softmodding where i just need everything else and once i follow the instructions above it should just work?
Got a gamestop or ebgames nearby? I found SC used for $1.99!

Unfortunately not, i'm in the UK and we DO have a GameStation in town but they charge extortionate prices even for pre-owned games :| but i did enjoy the original Splinter Cell on the PS2 so i had a quick look around Amazon.co.uk and found it for £0.50! which i think is about $1.05 it should arrive by this time next week so it will be next weekend before i can mod it but i look forward to letting you know how i get on :D

Ok guys i tried... and FAILED :|
i got the usb-xbox cable and an original version of SC
i plug the memory stick into the XBOX and it formats it
i followed the tutorial exactly, and everything went fine until i tried to install the driver MaxDrive, i pointed the driver installation window to C:\Program Files\Datel\Action Replay XBOX\Drivers and it found the MaxDrive etc... it looks as though it's installing and then says "windows could not find the file specified" so i carry on regardless and open AR and it shows "memcard" in white but when i click on it it says there is 0 blocks available and if i try to drag in the SID installer anyway and the SC PAL save it says "not enough space on disk"
so then i right clicked on memcard in AR and told it to format it which it did fine (i know this wasnt mentioned in the tut) and then i could drag the two files in so far so good.
then i plug it into the XBOX and it tells me it's formatted it again!
so i think this is because there was an error with installing MaxDrive, and when i formatted in AR it was no longer XBOX format and thats why it formatted it again....
any ideas?
*EDIT* i also tried re-installing AR to no avail :| and device manager does show it as a MaxDrive device

Hey thanks for the reply :) i'll give that a shot tonight and see how i get on and let you know how it goes, i can't spend to much time on it tonight as it's Halo 3 night at the GF's place but Wednesday night im in all night so im determined to get this working, i know guys that have paid £50 (70$?) to have people do this for them and there is no way im lettin that happen!
*EDIT*
sorry dude still no joy, the new screen capture you added just illustrates what i am already doing, here is the error i get.
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/6537/errorqs1.png" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>
and then device driver pipes up and says new hardware found...MaxDrive etc.." and then AR still wont see it.. any ideas?

See if you can borrow one, it'd be a waste to buy one and it give the same problems!
You obviously used all MY software that I provided and made the upgrade to AR v 1.4!?
Try the latest MaxDrive driver...

Yeah i used your software and updated the to AR 1.4
by the way the link you provided for the MaxDriver driver doesn't work:
it goes to soft32.com and theres the MaxDrive XBox 1.41.0.0 "download now" button but clicking on it gives now driver and this message
"Unfortunately, the publisher of this program has not submitted any valid download links. You can notify us here."

I am having problems with my lexar secure jumpdrive 256.
I made my own usb/xbox cable and it works fine on xbox. copied game saves everything.
Then I tried to get AR to work with the jump drive but no go. I'm using XP, and have tried 1.31 and 1.40 versions of AR. I have rebooted several times, uninstalled everything, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, nothing. The lexar is recognized as a AR Max drive in DM.
The AR in the middle flashes white a few times then goes dark. Every version does that. I've tried to find 1.41 drivers to no avail. I don't think they exist.
Is this one of those "reboot and pray" window hack? Anyone know of a solid linux solution? I did some searching and came up blank for solid linux AR type software.
I would be so thankful for any help!

You may just have a USB that's incompatible. If you can, try another stick...

hmmmm the stick works with xbox. Is there a compatability list with AR? Any known successes? Brand/size? It's the only stick I got currently. If I got to get another one I want to get one that works with AR.
thanks

I'm thinking may try the Mega X Key stuff if anyone knows where i can download the software instead of paying £30 for the disk and the memory stick? i thought i downloaded it earlier but it was just an upgrade for it and i need the original software first,
in reply to "capt7307" last but one post about Linux, theres an option to connect you XBOX to the PC and boot with a Xebian CD in theres a couple of sites that give you a rapidshare link to the ISO file to burn to CD-R, then you just boot the pc up with the disk in. might be worth a shot?

I did some major searching for mega x key. It appears to have gone defunct around 2005. I can't find any online resources anywhere for mxk. Unless some previous owner is willing to put the ISO up for all to share, your stuck trying to buy a retail version. Good luck with that if your in the states tho. Sounds like it is easier to get in the UK.

All due respect, the compatibility list only covers what is compatible with xbox not action replay. Is there an action replay list?

Action Replay is designed to be used with an 'Action Replay', not USB. The fact that we get it to work at all is a miracle!
I have no list, only the one I've started at the bottom of the thread which people have had success with!

One to add to your confirmed list, SanDisk cruiser 1 GB. Lexar Jumpdrive Secure 256MB doesn't work with AR but does with Xbox.
w00t! I'm happy now!
And only 18 bucks at wally world!

Success! No problems at all using a Sandisk Cruzer Mini 1.0GB.
The interesting thing is that on the compatibility page, it is listed as not working:
"SanDisk Cruzer mini 1.0 GB - WILL BE RECOGNIZED AND FORMATTED, but then any write attempts will end in 'The copy failed'".
I didn't experience this at all. I did format it in windows first as FAT32 before connecting it to the XBOX. Not sure if that made a difference.

It's been quite a wait, but yesterday morning my new USB stick arrived in the post and i sucessfully softmodded my XBOX!
I used a 1GB Kingston Data Traveller from DVD.co.uk, it only cost £1.50 (plus P+P) and it worked like a charm, followed the instructions word for word and had no problems what so ever :D
Thank you all so much for your help, guidance and patience and an especially huge thank you to chunkhead :)
Later guys!
Thanks again
Jimi

Awesome, great news! Which version of the 'Datatraveler' did you get (Mini, Secure, etc) or was it just the Datatraveler?
Your info has been added to the list!
