Hey, I have this problem as well. I am dying for a solution. I bought the system used, so I can't really say if anything was ever done to the console before I owned it. But I do know it was at least opened because the warranty sticker is broken.
If anyone can figure this out, you'll be a hero.

ok...heres my update. I decided to remove the casing of the xbox to clean the system ( any dust collected inside ). I also unpluged the dvd rom from the motherboard and then pluged it back and decided to turn the system on to make sure everything works. Played some ninja gaiden 2 for about 45min without any problems. OK...so i turned it off..put the case back on the 360 and there goes that green light again!! tray didnt even open and system resets. must have taken the case of at least 2 more times with the system reseting everytime the case was on. I am glad to say i been playing the system for hours with out the casing and so far so good. Day two and still working. Sucks i can see all the insides of the system but at least it works. if i find any other things to try ill gladly post here

I am kinda curious now...
Is this just a coincidence? or is the case really causing this problem somehow?
And if it is the case, I wonder if maybe a 3rd party replacement case would do the same thing.
For some reason I just can't feel comfortable playing the system with the inner workings exposed like that. Then again it is probably good for the airflow of the system, and you could always just throw a cover over it when not running it to keep dust out. Plus spraying it clean with some canned air would be a lot easier.
Also are you talking about just the plastic casing or the metal inside casing?

i cant believe how may posts we have related to this, i wish i could see what you guys are talking about. i dont think that a drive not ejecting, and a green light would be the cause of overheating. bhetrick, if you are reading this have you seen anything like this before? stiemy? dindi? could we get some pics of the light, maybe a youtube vid, and some pics of the inner workings? especially the drive/cables area.

If you want to see what the light does, just hit the eject button on your 360. It blinks just like that, and doesn't stop.

I tried powering up with the case all removed, and it did not help anything.
I also powered up the system with the DVD drive totally disconnected, and the console still does the same exact thing. I don't get any kind of error code or anything at all.

I have it working with out the top plastic casing. I open the dvd tray and power up the system with the remote. To eject i poke the button with a paperclip. Dont want to leave any discs inside the system. Who knows why this problem occured. Its been working this way since my last post. I tried calling microsoft but there service is the pits!! check those youtube vids perhaps you can find a solution. I stopped searching since my system is working exposed and i dont mind that( super weird!). Ive read what microsoft has to offer about this problem on their site which was useless. I have the TS-H943 dvd rom in my system. Can it be a rom related problem?

Hello,
Same problem here. Earlier in the week I was watching a movie and it locked up. Restarted and the power button center light just flashes green. The drive tray doesn't open or read the disc, but the xbox does boot up if you press the dvd-rom's eject button. It's been sitting all week and the drive still doesn't respond. So far I've manually ejected the disk, jumped online, and found this forum. I've had this xbox for a couple years now, sitting in the same location, without any problems until now.
My search for a fix continues...

Guys, I managed to find someone local to my area who specializes in xbox 360 repairs. In my country, MS does not officially support the console, so we make do with what support we have.
Turns out, the xbox 360 drive's motherboard is at fault, and mine had to be replaced. cost me roughly $50 total if my currency was in dollars.
It's working pretty well now.

No problem, man. This is a really hard problem to diagnose. I even emailed microsoft and they wanted me to call international long distance for support which may not have helped at all.
Anyway guys, if you need some info on any problems with your console, you can find quite a few guys who are very helpful.
The philippine Xbox community forums is where i found out about where i could get my drive fixed.
http://www.pinoyxbox.com/
By the way, just to make sure, the problem is with the DVD drive motherboard and not the 360's motherboard. This could be the reason why a bad flash also exhibits the same symptoms as the firmware is hard coded on to the drive mobo.
Edit:
I just read at the forums i posted with this message. There have been reports of the drive problem happening because some sort of wire gets caught in the xbox 360 shell / case. This might be the reason why your problem stopped when you opened your system up.

Hello
I am having the same problem. My dvd drive will not eject. I have opened my console and unplugged and replugged the wires and i still have the problem. This problem started when my xbox 360 got 2 red lights because it overheated. I let it cool down and when i tried to turn it back on, i got the green flashing light. I took the dvd drive apart and examined it and no belts are broken or anything but it doesnt even want to try to eject. This has happened to me before, but when I took it apart it started working fine. I really need help! I have no idea what else i can try. Although I have opened my console many times, my drive is not flashed. I think this has something to do with the xbox overheating but i am not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank You!

i solved my problem by buying a new xbox dvd drive from ebay. it has nothing to do with the console but it has to do with the dvd drive because i think for the people who have drives that are not ejecting. they have a broken xbox 360 drive and it has to be replaced with another one. there is no fix for it. I would highly recommend you to just buy one off from ebay for like 40 dollars.

Is there any way to know for sure that it is the dvd drive before i buy a new one?

listen i can reassure you that it's the dvd drive itself. the gears inside your xbox dvd drive is broken and it has to be replaced. same thing happened to me before, now that i swap it with a new one. it's working perfectly now.

if ur xbox 360 dvd drive cant recongize the disc it means that somehow ur dvd drive key and ur console key does not match. did u recently swap a old dvd drive with a new one?

Hey guys.
I repaired a 3rrod console last night that is also having eject problems. It's a Samsung MS25 and was made in 01/2006
From what I'm seeing with the dvd drive I'm working with the magnet in the top of the dvd drive case doesn't seem to want to let the laser assembly drop down and allow the dvd drive tray to eject.
I gathered this by loosening up the 4 screws that hold the dvd drive cover together. Once I did this I was able to get the dvd drive to eject and retract without problems. I also tested a few backup games since the guy said he had it flashed over in the Middle East.
However I can't just leave the screws loose so I decided to take a few of my nylon washers and cut them and use them as spacers, between the metal cover and the plastic housing of the dvd drive, to see if this helps out.
I'm guessing the problem is that the dvd drive is probably on it's way out. Either the motor is wearing out and isn't strong enough to pull away from the magnet or something of that nature.
I'll post some more information this evening when I get home and test out the spacers. I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer last night to test it out. Otherwise he'll probably need another MS25 and just swap out the dvd board.
EDIT:
Well the spacer idea can be shot down. It didn't work. It allowed the the dvd tray to eject freely but when a game was inserted it couldn't read it, the drive was loud and it scratched up a backup.
While trying to figure out another work around I confirmed that my problem was the magnetic dvd spindle. I removed the circle that houses the spindle in the samsung drive cover and the spindle itself. The tray ejected and closed freely. Then I put a game in and set the magnetic bezel back down on top before the game started spinning. The game played perfectly and the dvd drive was quieter.
If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

Hey guys. This is my first post here of many more to come. Ok now to the good stuff. Im having the same problem as everyone else so let me explain how my problem all started.
1. I have a modified xbox360 with globe360 modchip. Always worked fine until one day I got the RROD.
2. I tried the towel trick which worked every time I did it until the 7th time (lmao, I know 7 was a bit much). I fixed the RROD problem myself but not with the x-clamp. I just cleaned up the mess that the solder made and put everything back together and it worked fine.
3. The towel tricked made three wires from the globe360 mod come off. I finally repaired the wires and once I put everything together again I got a flashing Green issue.
4. I figured that it could be my sata cable hook up to the xbox because I accidently touch the cable with my soldering iron. No major burn, just a teeny weeny injury to the cord. I get no blinking red lights, but I have no audio or sound. The ish is crazy and its bothering me so bad. My xbox360 has always worked fine until now. If anyone would like a youtube video of the issue than let me know here or IM me at nickmoses05@hotmail.com.
I have youtube videos already so it would be cool to do a vid for you guys. I appreciate all the work that has been done on this site because I have been getting information from here for years. Information is usually so detailed that I would find my answers no matter what, but this is one that I have trouble figuring out. I will keep everyone up to date with any changes.
Thanks.
