in the disc channel u get the gcos sign, when u click on it it then boots up with the picture of the ass

maybe when u ran the 1.9 update it turned off your region over ride
try downloading the hacked config 1.3 from these earlier posts

Heres links to the two threads on here about the workarounds,

Rafadawn I appreciate your help, I have WINRAR but something seems to be wrong with that particular file(WIIUI) the one you posted on your GCOS page. when I try to open the archive I get sometype of error about "Unexpected end of archive". Another thing that I do routine is save files from internet instead of just running/opening them. Scan them then extract then scan again before I open the file or program. Every1 else seems to be having luck with this recovery besides me so Im almost convinced to start from stratch unless some1 can convince me to stay patient.

I believe im doing the extraction correctly. If not Im totally F***'d up. I have ISO'd over 30 backups and these backups come in .rar files. I have played every game that I have with an exception of a few that were PAL. All my backups are NTSC-USA I only know they are NTSC because thats what the file says.

I dont know why I am allowing this to get the best of me its not really a big deal, but I really enjoy getting things to work and I like the challenge. So please dont think I will self-inflict if I dont get this corrected. LOL I have verbally abused my Wii on numerous occasions.

Try a GCOS version of the Config 1.2 disc. Make sure you filechop the original iso before making a GCOS one with WiiUI.

Links:

WiiUI

Config 1.2

PS: Read tutorials here if you need help with FILECHOP and GCOS. Remember, all images less than 1.35GB must be filechopped before being burnt to disc.

Here is the deal:

1) Preparations:
--Extract, filechop, and make a GCOS disc for each of the following:
USE THE CORRECT REGION FOR EACH FILE

> 1.9g hotfix
> 1.3 config
> 1.2 config
> 1.9b recover disc

Make sure you also select the correct region in WiiUI when making the GCOS discs.

All right! Now

2) First let's see if the Wiikey is fully functional. We do that by running the following:

A) 1.9g disc [If the disc works, note that the update is gonna run twice. First as a test, then for real - Wait until you hear Homer's voice.] If this works then run 1.2 config and change REGION OVERRIDE to ON. STOP you are done.

In case A does not work, then try B
B) 1.3 Config. If this doesn't work go to C. If it does work change REGION OVERRIDE to ON, then run the 1.9g update. Stop you are done.

If B) does not work then try C
C) 1.2 Config. If this runs then change REGION OVERRIDE to ON, then run 1.9G

Finally, if unfortunately nothing has worked so far, that means that the Wiikey is not fully functional and needs to be recovered.
So run the 1.9b Recover disc. let it run for 3-5 minutes even though nothing appears on the screen. Then try the A,B,C steps again

IMPORTANT
Filechop all images listed above.
Burn one GCOS disc for each of the images (after filechopping). Burn them on good media at 4x. When using WiiUI to burn the GCOS image, select the CORRECT REGION.
For each of the images above select the CORRECT REGION.

If nothing works, then there might be a problem with the Wiikey (soldering, burn-out, etc...). Let me know if it works.

OK Rafadawn, i got all the way to the GCOS part and I open the WII UI v1.01 that you posted. I first select what region USA, then I select number of games 1game, then I press the Make ISO. I goes into windows explorer and I select the ISO image to save 1st the program tells me that I have that Image saved already would i like to replace it and I choose yes, then I select the same image to open. Once I try to open this I get a visual basic X "Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediatly." this is the part were Im stuck making the GCOS. Where did I go wrong?

Ok!

After you click MAKE ISO, the first Window is the SAVE one. In the SAVE windoe you do not select any image, you pick a folder to save the GCOS image into and type a name for it. Then the OPEN window comes up. In the OPEN window you select the filechopped image.

If select the same image for OPEN and SAVE then you make a big huge enormous mess by trying to open and save the exact same file at the exact same time.
By the way, since you tried to do just that, i think you might have ruined the filechopped image. So, delete it, re-extract the original file, filechop it again, and then run WiiUI

Good luck, again.

Maybe Im an idiot but this is not working at all. I opened the WIIUI changed the region, kept the game# the same at 1, pressed the make ISO, explorer came up I tried to save to a blank part of a folder. The program flashed after that with explorer coming up again asking to select a ISO image. I dont see the file I just created so I cant open the filechop file, or am I suppose to open the file that I filechopped? I dont believe this program is even making the file. Maybe im wrong but Im having bad luck with this.

1) I am assuming you have an image that you have filechopped (that means that if you check the size of the image it will be around 1.35 GB). Let's call this image filechop.iso.

2) Now, start WiiUI. Make sure you see the GCOS Disc Maker section.

3) Select the ISO region

4) Set Number of Games to 1

5) Click on CREAT DISC

6) the window Save Iso File To opens up. Pick the folder wher you want to save the final image. In the box that says File Name type a unique name for the final image (for instance output). Click SAVE

7) A new window opens, Select your ISO file. Here, you need to find the file you filechopped, e.g. the file you have ready at 1). Select the file by clicking once on it. You will see the name in the File Name box. Click the OPEN button.

8) The program will run, you will see a DOS window, and will create the file you chose at 6). You will find that file (OUTPUT.ISO or whatever name you picked) in the folder you selected at 6). Burn this file on a DVD-R at 4x

Good Luck and Good Night!!

You know what Rafadawn? I appreciate your help and if I knew you personally I would send you sometype of gift for all your patience. While I was waiting for your response I said fuck it and disassembled my console and got out my solder gun. My #2 point on the key must have came lose or wasnt soldered solidly. I melted the solder about 3xs put ribbons back on plugged it back up and I saw the inserted disc continue to spin so I was like MUTHAFUCKA!!!!!!!!!! I CANT FUCKING BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!

I am very sorry that I wasted so much of your time, and I do really appreciate your every effort to help an me.

Do you think I should do this even though my Wii works perfect at the moment? I´m not sure if Region Override is set to on or not. But if it´s set to off, should I set to on and hope it will continue to work?

Absolutely not!!! If things are working just fine, do not do anything.

Update 1.9g is for Allowing SMG to run. So use that only is SMG does not run.

REGION OVERRIDE becomes an issue only if backup games or Update discs are not running.

Ok thank you very much for your quick answer.

Another thing. If I don´t "have to" play SMG right now. Could/should I flash back to 1.9b and wait for a more steady version of the firmware? I´ve read a lot of this and many seems to have had it working for weeks/months and then the drive become unable to read backups. So am I more "safe" with 1.9b or am I screwed because I flashed with 1.9g once and made the update from the SMG disc?

1.9g is very very stable.

So far all problems about discs not reading or game backups not playing have beebn caused by:

1) Bad instal of Wiikey
2) Dead mod-chip
3) Dead drives

In general, if I can give any reccommendation, it would be to useyour Wii just for playing Games and not as any sort of media center, playing movies, music, or any other thing on dvd discs. If there any possible flaw with the Wii is that the DVD drive laser is not really strong and can deteriorate fast.

So you don´t think it´s the firmware that for some reason "kills" the wiikey chip slowly? I know it was a similar problem with the first xbox. You had to use the correct bios in case you hade a v1.5 or earlier xbox or another bios for v1.6 boxes. If you used the wrong one the xbox could take damage later.

Realle hope the wiikey.cn site jumps back online so the maybe can inform us a little bit more.

But then I stay with 1.9g and hope it will continue to work. Thank you.
