my psp now just has a black screen. Anything that i can do? my memory card light does not flash, as if the memory card is not being read. should i format it then insert it or just leave the magic memory stick as is.
i was able to convert the battery back to normal. but now when i take 5 seconds to enter any thing for example usb mode (i can press any of the buttons i.e the X, triangle, square, and circle)the psp turns off. anything that i can to to solve this.

This makes no sense at all.
First you say your PSP has a black screen as if nothing is coming up on the screen.
Then you said you recovered the Battery and that you have to wait 5 seconds before going into anything?
How did you recover the battery or enter USB mode if you have a black screen and your PSP turns off after pressing a button?
Be more specific at what is going on.
Does the XMB come up at all?
@ngepi
You can recover the battery to normal. You would know this if you read the guide. All you need to do is format the Memory Stick to get it back to normal PSP use after your done with the Magic memory Stick use.

Followed this guide EXACTLY and downgraded my 3.80 m33-2 phat with 1.5 add-on to 3.71 m33-4 :). Btw before I started, I switched the option from 3.80 kernel to 1.5 kernel in the recovery menu, then followed the steps for using a 1.5 psp, not the custom firmware steps. Hope this helps anyone else trying to downgrade til the 3.80 ms pro duo issues are resolved

guys thanks for this guide i was able to go back to 3.71 m33-4 from 3.80 m33-4!!! the former has some "bugs" because it causes lag times from games like nba08 and tekken DR. I can't thank you enough! Kudos to all who made this possible!

The files will now be installed to the Memory Stick.
After it has finished writing the files you will get an image similar to below. Just type Y and ENTER to finish the instillation of files to the Magic memory Stick.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h141/larrylje/writeboot.jpg
during this step i dont get that message in the image that asks me to push yes to continue i get another that says the people who created the program and then it closes after i push a button
that's strange that didn't happen to me i got the image and press y and it didn't come up Quote: the people who created the program and then it closes after i push a button
The reason the credits come up is because when you are asked to format you typed y then took the ms out and exited usb before you were prompted to do so the reason i know this is because i done the same 3 times then on 4th try i waited for the installer to prompt me to take it out and it worked fine hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.

Even when I waited for the prompt to remove the MS, the same thing happens to me, but instead of cutting to the credits it says 1 file copied about 10 times real fast then the credits roll.
The "PSP MS IPL Installer" never shows up, which is obviously the issue because like you said, the IPLs are necessary.

For those having issues with the files being copied to Memory Stick. make sure you follow the Easy installer instructions correctly. Also try using a different memory Stick and XP is the preferred OS that should run the easy installer. if you have Vista find a PC running XP.
The guide works perfectly fine. So if your having issues it is either something your doing wrong or you need to try a different Memory Stick and or a different PC.

Ok I just did the first part of this guide which is gettin the files on the mem stick n then droppin the psp and the 150 thing in the root of the psp. My question is...am i supposed to see any changes? As in on maybe th e psp system settings? because my software version is still 3.80. Or, do I have to continue with the pandora battery part?

What do you think?
I get tired of answering questions like this.
Do you think if you didn't need the Pandora Battery I would have included it in the guide?

Can I just check something. Can I can go from 380M33 right to 380M33-4 without having to do the -2 and -3 updates?
Thanks

i have trouble here.
i successfull made magic stick via using 2gb sony ms.
but i can't make pandora bat.
honestly, i got confused and use method for 1.50 psp,
but mine was cf psp.
i tried to 1.50 method and failed.
psp won't turn on by bat, and i formatted ms before
put my bat to normal mode.
so i backed up my spare bat's data and put it in to my original bat.
psp can be turned on bat.
after that, i tried method for cf.
it said success, but the result...psp won't turned on bat.
i turn it on via ac adapter and see my bat in pandora tool, it said
serial 0x3d86a00 - unkown or nomalr serial
and the bat won'tget charged.
(my original bat is sony china made, but my spare bat is sony japan
made. and it not even can be convert to pandora.
pandora tool said "failed")
any one has solution for this?
ps:what is xmb??

Thank you for your guide. I ran your previous guide on my Daxter model PSP, with OFW 3.72 and it worked great. I am now running 3.71 M33-4 CFW. I did not take your original advice, and tried to make the pandra battery myself, BIG MISTAKE. I fried my battery, it was an extra I purchased. I then purchased a Datel tool battey from Diveno, and it worked like a charm. For those wondering about Diveno, the company is on the up, and up. The website looks shady, and low tech, but I had my product in a couple of days. I do have one question, can I use my Magic Memory Stick, and downgrade a PSP with 3.80 OFW?
