With version 2.2.3.258 I have found that to encode the movie matching a normal dvd I have to do it in 4:3 mode otherwise the picture is stretched and quality is compromised. The new version is also screwed but even worse.
I'm having exactly the same problem you are getting. I tried every video file and every possible option and this is making me want to destroy convertx. This program is by far the most useless program since it automatically crops out no matter what setting i choose. So I now take 4 hours using nerovision but it does the job well without cropping. I had the lastest 3.0.0.7 version....
I might just be forced to make cropped dvds for my .mkv files because i can't find any other mkv converters than this.
Same problem guys! It has nothin to do with the settings that I've tried so far. (16:9 and 4:3) Whatever I set here the crappy cut off widescreen is still in place. Here's a log of my last movie where this occures:
some lines from my log: (translated from norwegian, but u get the picture)

Video processing: Pad (Left:8 - Top:0 - Right:8 - Bottom:0)
Video processing: Crop (Left:0 - Top:10 - Right:0 - Bottom:10)

I see a lot of things here which may be the problem..
Any help? :) Any posibillty to change these settings?
Just passing thru. I was going to suggest to the original poster that this looks to me like needing to select the correct viewing mode on the TV itself.
plus ezkim0x - you need to remove those links from your signature, especially that last one. You can put them in your shoutbox profile but not on the forum pages.

It has been suggested, and it has nothing to do with the TV-settings.
You even see the "cut-off" by playing the movie on the PC with all different programs.
