it's the content off the disc that is copyrighted ie. the film....audio etc. not the disc itself...so if you copy on to your disc (which you own) the content is not yours which is still subject to copyright.

You know. If they put copyright on a DVD for us not to copy it and others keep coming up with ways to remove copyright encryption and on top of that it's legal. Then who are the bigger idiots? And even if you make exact replica's of your DVD's right down to the case it's in. The only thing to pretty much fathom at this point is. This particular person wants to mass produce these and sell them to make mucho dinero'. I know assumptions like these are a dime a dozen and cause a lot of toes to be stepped on. And I am still not making any real accusations. But even if you replicated to look like the original and you couldn't restore copyright encryption back to your original DVD. It should still be good enough to deck your movie library out with it.
