There is only one other loader made for the PS3 , but its made from USBAdvance.
It does work on the PS2 though.
Not sure if you would have same problem or not though.

not completely sure, but you could try installing free mcboot, and launching the usbadvance elf off of there. If it doesnt boot also then try holding start and turning on the ps2 , htat will disable the matrix chips, press reset again, and its disabled. to enable turn it off, not reset but off into standby and then turn it back on.
disabling the chip n loading it through fmcb should work, but idk just thought of it.
but yea try the ps3 version of usbadvance, and see if that works first.

The tutorials are here to install fmcb 1.8
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/
That picture just shows what can be added to the Sony Browser
You need to add the programs (ELF files) that you want to the installation yourself.
Most can be downloaded from sksapps.com
It tells you the recommended applications in the tutorial to add and where to place them.
probably for you the CD method is best to use too install.
You would still need to disable your modchip after to use fmcb 1.8 though, then enable it when you don't want to use fmcb.
