To rip single.VOB u can use vobedit that demuxes to elementary streams or DVDx to mpeg2 program stream with conversion(fast with P4). Both are freeware...

You can easilly rip VOB files as Mpeg2 files...
What I do sometimes is use SmartRipper and configure it to rip the DVD as a Single VOB file and then I go to Stream Processing and I de-select everything accept the Video track and the Main Audio track and then I set it up so that the VOB gets ripped as a seperate M2V Video file and a AC3 audio file...Now you can import the M2V and AC3 file into Ulead DVD Workshop....
You can do Frame accurate editing of Mpeg2/Vob files useing the Womble Mpeg Video Wizard and you can also use seperate audio and Video files to edit with, I have had nothing but good results useing it to edit Mpeg2 or VOB files......Cheers

People I think we r talking here about joining & converting vobs that r already on the hard drive. If u have a DVD disc u can do anything u want with no problemo...
