It will be interesting to see how this all pans out in the future. Seeing that people have done the update, and no one REALLY knows what sort of code it had in it. The ban hammer as PS2 said above may not come until just before of after the fall update. So everyone may do this update feeling it is safe and getting confident because months have gone by and they are still on Live and then one day BAM! down comes the hammer.

But it all goes back to what i always say. You have two choices:
1. risk it and update hoping you won't get banned
2. Stop playing on Xbox Live because until you do the update you lose access anyway.
That is why i have two consoles so i don't have to worry about all this crap.

Yea, but he also said that we'd be safe when he released his updated firmware right before Halo 3 launched. And we know how that story ends.

Don't get me wrong... I mean no disrespect to him. If I were going to trust any inside info from anyone, it'd be from C4E.

I'm just saying don't take what he says as a guarantee. In the end, make your own decisions and accept the responsibility.

Okay, I have a question, I haven't flashed my Xbox dive, and I plan do do it this weekend, when I can go to my uncles house and use his desktop computer. I already bought my opening kit and have practiced opening, along with my PCI card, I've prepared everything I need, I already did the update, so should I still flash my drive (Benq) or do you think it could brick?

I have modded 4 or 5 Benq now with no issues mate, make sure you follow the guide to the letter and all will be fine. What is getting discussed on the thread in Xbox live(internet play) on whether modded units will be banned when accepted new update, Xbox will still work even if banned from xbox live but, the whole gaming experiance is better on live play.

I have a similar dilema, not too worried about bricking but wondering if I should go on live prior to flashing and getting updates and transferring licences from my previous xbox or doing it after the flash.

Not sure if the drive firmware is logged on first connect to live, maybe even checked before it leave the manufacturer but got banned once already due to a sh*t rip (own fault) so want to be as cautious as possible and not go getting banned for being ignorant.....again!

Initial plan was to flash get updates/licenses leave offline until after the fall update and make a call on either going legit or carrying on with backups. Now I am wondering if I should do it before flash and have it logged legit and hope the firmware is not the flag.

You pays your money you takes your chance, like everyone else has said already you just don't know.

if i were both of you guys i wouldnt do ANYTHING until the new dash was released for at least a week and a half. get it all legit, then see if new firmware comes out. if they do drop the hammer, you might only be able to use that console for a month and then it is banned permantly. where as you could wait and have a better chance of getting months of playability out of it.

So, the final answer to this "updating issue for modded consoles" is OK. Those who disagree please raise your hand.

A question to the experts, do you think changing the modded console firmware into the original firmware before accepting the new update would be more safer ? or it will be the same and it doesn't matter ?

Are there any news for the new firmware after the iXtreme 1.4.1 ? or is it under developing ?

Thanks in advance,
Hashimoto

The problem with that theory is that no one knows with 100% certainty how Microsoft is tracking people to ban. So changing it back may do you no good. If they are scanning systems somehow and keeing a list and just doing mass bannings here and there. Then the console may have been logged by MS the very first few times you when on XBL with a back up.

That of course is also just another theory. Right now it is a game of risk VS reward. If you want the reward of being able to back up your games and play them, then you take the risk of being banned at any time. There is of course only one true way around this, and the way that i have gone. You have one modded console for games offline. Then any game you really like and think that you would play a lot online you can go buy for your unmodded console.
Personally i have gotten to the point where i think my "special" console is going to get sold to a friend with all the games since i never use it. I only play a few games, and they are all online with friends. So i never even use the modded one anymore.

As far as C4E goes i am 100% with bhetrick on this one. No disrespect to the guy because he is a wealth of good knowledge and is counted on for the inside scoop on things. But nothing that they have done so far that they said was "safe" has actually worked out be be a sure thing. You can use any firmware you want and make your games perfectly by the book. If you play them online you can still be banned.

Dear steimy,

Thanks a lot for your kind and quick response as well as detailed reply. I forgot to tell you before my posting that I was using backups for offline only and the originals using them for online. So, does this mean I was doing fine? or am I just lucky all this time?

The question here is if you play original games (not backups) on the modded console (with iXtreme 1.4.1), does it mean that I'm still under risk?

Although, If I accept this new update and continuing my previous policy (which is playing originals for online/LIVE and backups for offline) am I still under risk/detection from M$ ?

By the way, does C4EVA is the one who made iXtreme 1.4.1 ? (sorry for this noobie question guys >_<)

Thanks for your usual cooperation,
Hashimoto
