Linux coding..

# = rem

line commented out.

As for the rest.. we got a working bios on the chip, which may be faulty... otherwise it's an obsolete procedure and console and 99% of us who know about them at the kind of level you need have scrapped all our info and moved on to proper hacking.

If you would stay ON TOPIC it would help.. jeeeez.. I was all tooled up to try some more with the bios banks and we are onto hotswapping with hdm... which seriously.. if it isn't working you either have a motherboard which doesn't support drive locking or you just aren't doing it right.

What the hell are you trying to do with that??.. lock the stock hdd to the stock xbox?.. I can't make any sense out of the incoherent babble you posted .. sorry :(

Creakster.. were you actually trying to flash a 1.6 bios on the chip? :)

Could you help me with the harddrive ? i reflashed m8plus V16 to bank 1 , and bank 2 still contains flashbios 3.0.3 . When i boot the xbox up with the m8 i get error 16 . (dash error) . I tried loading a game and it just hangs at the x logo with the ms writing at the bottom . When i boot original mode it gives me error 6 . What gives ? I have never run into this problem before . Any help would be cool .

error 6.. drive locked to wrong eeprom for the mobo or you have been screwing about with the drive locking/unlocking tools on hdm WITHOUT reading the very serious warning from ldots...
error 16.. busted dash or wrong paths.. that's what you get when you mess about with the bios dash names and locations.. LiNuX is CaSe SenSiTiVe.

i can't remember exactly, it was my first time working with a modchip. I got it sorted in the end, unfortunately the notes i posted on page 1 weren't up to my usual standard so i can't explain much more, and i'm not even sure i'd want to tackle my two modchipped boxes again in a hurry after the last escapade. Give me lazy/easy softmodding anytime :)

I'm done for the night so i'll leave DrGanja in your capable hands.

DrGanja - Jan can get you sorted, just try and be a tad more coherent :)

ok i will explain exactly what i was doing . First i unlocked my harddrive using unleashx . As i wanted to plug the harddrive into my pc and transfer some movies and things faster than via ftp . Once completed with transfering said files to xbox hd i then hooked it back up in my xbox in an unlocked state . i proceeded to boot the xbox up with X2 5035 V1.6 on bank 1 . It gave me error code 6 . I then reflashed the bank 1 with M8 Plus V1.6 to see if anything would change or if it would boot up properly . I get error code 16 . Im confused . When i boot normal xbox mode i get error code 6 . As said above when i boot off of the modchip i get error 16 . I have tried to load a game to see if i could access my harddrive thru an exploit to see if i could get back and relock my harddrive . The screen hangs at the X logo with white microsoft writing . It wont do anything more than that . Is all of this understandable ? I hope so .

i had the same problem. i fixed it by putting the eeprom.bin file on a floppy drive (since it couldn't be found on the cd where i actually put it in the eeprom folder!). after i got the message eeprom not found, i directed it to the floppydrive path. from then on it would find the eeprom.bin and lock normally.

if you got a chip in it, can't you boot a aid or slayer install disk and only repair your C drive!?

i had a similar problem with my executer2 and evox m8 bios, i needed to rebuild the harddrive (only c drive off course) by booting the slayers disk. after which it worked fine (both locked and unlocked)

Problem . i looked in the system settings menu of slayers and it says

Security Unlock Error
Free Space On C: 0

It says that for all partitions . What Happened to it ?! Do i do a fresh install of a retail hd ?

Well ... atleast i learned a valuable lesson . 1.6b's arent any fun . Yes i did infact kill my harddrive . Thank god i have a 1 year warranty from where i bought it from . time to get a new 1 . lol . take it from a guy that spent 3 monthes tweakin and gettin her perfect , DONT UNLOCK YOUR HARDDRIVE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE ! sorry to yell . It also seems that you cannot unlock you harddrive and use an x2.6ce. but i dont know. im very disapointed in myself for being a moron . but i hope you pros can get a chuckle out of it and if it raises awareness of these touchy 1.6b's then so be it . I totally appreciate everyones help and suggestions . You guys are great at what you do . i hope someday to have the knolledge that you guys have . I have a new chapter in my home made modder guide now . lol the donts of harddrives . You can now close this post or tell me how if i am the one to have to close it . Again THANK YOU .

but what i don't get, if you are able to boot a slayer disk. you should be able to get the eeprom.bin file by copying it eiter to your mem card (if you have one) or just ftp it into your computer. as soon as slayer boots, evox is setup. you get an ip addres and you can ftp into it. you can even write the hdd key down by hand.

it is off course a different story if you locked the drive with an eeprom.bin key that you did not write down. than you can toss it away (the hard drive i mean). then you have to put another hd in and lock it with the right eeprom.

when you have the eeprom.bin file, just rebuilt your drive with the xbox hdm tutorial and lock it.

but if you have some sort of warranty and you are able to get it covered, go for that! maximum result, and no hassle.
good luck

I backed up my eeprom.bin off of the xbox . I know it was right . As for ftping when i tried to send stuff to my stock harddrive my program would fail it because there was 0 free space on all partitions . i formatted the hd with slayers several times and rebooted the machine . I got the same result every time . When i went into the system settings menu to check the free space after every attempt it said 0 for each partition . I just dont get it . I tried every thing that slayers offered as to rebuilding the drive but it said it formatted and copied but all partitions said 0 mb free space . I returned it yesterday and said i was xbox live and my dog was messing around behind my tv and turned off my surge protector . Now i have a 1.2 and already modded with my x2.6ce and works great with the hd unlocked . I did relock it tho using evox as thats what i used to unlock it . I had to test it . lol . Thanks to all .
