Soooo....Nero Recode is Shrink with a new dress on? As in "updated and improved", but pay me for it?

In a nutshell...yes.
There were some improvements and updates though (as you mentioned)

That being the case, with so many Afterdawn members having Nero in their toolbox, why do we almost never hear anyone mention Nero Recode. It's always Shrink, Shrink, and more Shrink.

I never thought of dvd shrink as 'sexy'. Guess whatever turns you on to float your boat!!

Good question. I personally have not used it too much. I've used Shrink for so long, it's just part of my normal process(though Creaky keeps pushing RB :D ). 'Tis a good question though. I think a lot of people just still like using good old "sexy" freeware Shrink.

Only thing I can think of is that we tend to go the freeware route, and dvd shrink is free.
Also, some versions of nero were a lil buggy, but it seems that they have gotten it better.

Here's a good one for you. An hour ago I backed up one of my movies and of course went right to DVD Shrink to compress. After talking at some lenghth about Nero Recode this morning (about seven hours ago) it never dawned on me to try it. Man oh man. Old dog...no new tricks.

I used Recode for about a year and a half. It was slightly faster than DVD Shrink with comparable quality. Then I used DVD2One for about a year...for speed it was faster than both and also produced a nice quality movie. I currently don't use anything more than WinRar and ConvertXtoDVD :P and of course Imgburn for every burn.

You lost me. How do you compress your DVD 9 movies? Or do you burn DL?
