EDIT: I cant fit Tool F in. It jumps back out whenever I try to put it in the hole above the power/reset switch.
I had to add a bit of tape to that one. It would not stick down.

You said you have Magic Keys II also, then try using the TOOL 1 for TOOL A if you want.

I've put tape on Tool E and it works but I can't close my console. If I try, Tool E jumps up and the Tape comes off, and I don't want to put tape on Tool E every single time I play. It should be able to close right?

I tried Tool 1 istead of the Magic Switch variant and I don't undertstand it, I put it in then I slide it across to stay in, but the switch that its meant to push down just goes under tool 1 since if I dont slide it across to stay in, it's just gooing to jump out because of the switch. I tried some tissue and it works, but I'd like to use one of the tools and not tissue.

Thanks.

Yeah I understand that. I like the tool in there instead of tissue also.

Did you slide it over first with a tiny flat screwdrive, then put the TOOL A or TOOL 1 in.
It took me a few trys to get it too stay.

I've slid it over yes and put it in, but it still pops back out. I'll try it some more and see if I can get it in. Can you help with Tool E, I write whats wrong with it in my post before this one. Thanks.

EDIT: Would it be alright if I pried out out the small metal piece that Tool E goes into with a knife since mybe I could close the console without it popping out?

No problem, you can't delete the post, but if you click on the top right hand corner of the post, you will see an edit button.

Just delete the contents of the post and save it
I usually just write "Sorry Double post"

Ok for TOOL E it can be trying some times. The lid should close easily.

You may have to wiggle it around a bit until you feel its in place, then it should just lie flat like in the pictures, and the disc should spin when the lid is open.

Another alternative is, if your warranty is up, take apart the PS2 and block the sensor with TOOL D.

Like it shows on page 3 of the pdf file.

I'm trying to install Tool D, I've taken screws out and I'm taking the case off, but it feels like its going to break when I take it out. It feeld like one side of it isn't coming off. Is it supposed to be like this?

Did you remove the warranty sticker, and be careful of the reset switch when taking the cover off.
Don't use Brute force when taking the cover off, just to warn you.

Here is a pdf file to dissassemble a V14 PS2. Link
The slims should all be similiar

Yes, I removed the warranty sticker, it feels like one side of it won't come off tough. Do you know if this is normal?

I don't think it should be that hard. I have only taken apart my FAT PS2, not my slim. But it comes apart pretty easily.

You are starting at the back to lift, then push toward the front to clear the reset button, then lifting upwards.

Do you think I should just buy another Magic Switch set? I think maybe its not working because I took most of the glue off, since it was much thicker before. I got it to close fine, but when I open it again, it stops working. I leave it in exactly the same place, stuck down, get some tape and put it on the side thats not going down. I reset it and it still dosen't work, which doesn't make sense since I didn't move it at all.

EDIT: It's totally stuck down and sometimes the disk stops spinning, I try andpush Tool E down, usually this starts it up again but nothing happens. This is annoying me beyond belief!

EDIT: I got it working for awhile, but the next morning It wasn't working again eventhough Tool E didnt move at all. Now it wont work unless I close the lid, but when I open it to put a game in, I get the error when Tool E moves, so it won't work. Do you know whats going on?

Sorry for triple posting but I'm afraid no one will answer me if I edit my last post, which I've done like 3 times.

FINALLY, I have got it working. but the prblem is, quite often instead of booting Swap Magic it takes me to the PS2 Browser screen showing the memory card and the disk. Sometimes it goes to the Playstation 2 logo but then the screen goes black for awhile and then the disk stops spinning. I;ve heard the problem might be the laser, is this true? And if not, do you know whats wrong.

Thanks in advance,
Diablo12

You said you have a 7000x model ps2, so that is a V12 and they are noted for having the laser that the coils on the laser burn out.
http://www.modsupplier.com/catalog/pstwo...r802-p-131.html

Or it could be the Swap Magic Disk is the problem. And sometimes you have to send it back for replacement.

Do you have another PS2 or friends that you could try the Swap Magic Disks in.

Does your PS2 play any Original PS2 games fine?

Just tried it and its having problems playing original games too. It sent me back to the browser screen. If I get another laser will it solve the problem or will it begin not working again?

Could it be that the Swap MAgic disks have caused this, or is this a naturnal occurance since its a V12 model.

If it is having problems playing Original PS2 games, then I would say its your laser.
You can try cleaning it with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.
Clean in a circular motion for about 30 sec. Then dry with a dry q-tip for about 8 secs.

No the Swap Magic disks did not make this happen.

A new laser would fix the problem, yes.

I have the same setup (slim ps2 and magic switch v4) so I was wondering if I could also get some help.

Edit: I figured out my initial problem. With the A tool I couldn't full close the case, which cause a problem with the Swap Magic disc. I installed the F tool instead and its working... with one hitch: the CD tray pops open unless I hold down the edges, again only with the Swap Magic disc.

It seems even with the F tool, the top is still a little uneven, how do I fix this?

Yes TOOL A is only for the latest SCPH-9000x models. TOOL F is what you use instead and no it should fit fine.
YOu need to take a small screwdriver and push the little tab to the right, then insert TOOL F.
I ended up putting some double-sided tape on mine as it wouldn't stick.

If this doesn't work for you, then you could try the old tape and tissue method.

I can't believe I'd forgotten about that. Thanks, a custom-made wad of tissue solved my problem easily.

I have another question, Smokeyrain. Eventhough Tool E is in the appropriate place and not moving at all, it sometimes fails to work. Is there a reason for this?

Also, to make it easier should I just purchase another Magic Switch V4 set? When I first got it, I accidentally took most of the glue off of Tool E and there was only a small layer left, could this be cauing porblems. IF I don't have to, could I use glue to stick Tool E down?

Thanks in advance,
Diablo12

If it fails to work, it probably means it moved somehow.
Yes you could glue it down, double-sided tape would be better.
The tools are cheap though, if you feel you want to purchase them again, or you could look at the tutorials I posted above a couple posts.

Hope you get it working, I know it takes some patience.

Is there a chance Tool E is moving from the inside? Or moving some other way?

When you yourself tried to fit Tool E in for the first time, did it take you a long time? Also, when you found the right spot and stuck it down, was there any need for you to move it again, or did it stay as it was?

If it is not resting properly on the sensor it is blocking, then yes it will move.

It did take me a bit to get it in on my V14.
I had to leave it and come back when I had more patience.

Here is the thread about it and from there on are guides and help from others.

That is why a lot of people just end up taping it down.
I didn't want to take mine apart.
