Noooooo. wait don't leave yet Joleca! hehe I thought it was working... it got to 95% in Shrink, and then it stopped and said encountered programming error, can not continue... It looks like it was getting up to writing the .MDS file and then stopped. Do you know why this may have occurred? Internet connection doesn't have anything to do with this right?? I noticed my internet went down while it was it froze in Shrink...

Thank youuuuu

@mcelano83
Since you're burning to a dual layer and already ripped the files to your hard drive w/ DVDFab you can leave Shrink out of the equation.
The error you getting usually has something do with copy protection - something may have been left behind from the ripped files that Shrink still handle. Internet shouldn't have anything to do with it but if the program also froze it may have.

Open Nero and use Express > Video DVD option. Set the target size to dvd-9 (depending on the version you are using it should be in the lower right hand corner) - add the folder where you saved the movie. Click next then set the burn speed to 4x or lower.
I would use the ones from vobblanker.

Or use the updated burn engine of Decrypter - ImgBurn. When you open ImgBurn pick 'write files/folders to disc. Here's a guide - link.

I do not see this Video-DVD option to set it to DVD9. I'm not sure if my drive is compatible for DVD DL's. I tried anyways and it wasn't reading the DL disc, but I'm hoping it's b/c I didn't change it to DVD9... can't find that setting. Can you please help?

I'm still having problems... turns out my drive definately doesn't read DVDR DL. My luck....
Any other way I can shrink these files so that I can burn it on a regular DVDR?? I've ripped all the files from Dvd Fab... I have the VOB and IFO files...
When I tried transcoding the files in Shrink, I got a programming error at 96%. Almost there...
What can I do to fix this? And these were the files from Vob Blanker too... I did run them through the blanker and processed the full movie. Any suggestions??

What version of Nero are you using?

How about the make and model of your drive? If you don't know it open decrypter and it will be listed under destination.

Are you running the files thru Shrink that have been run through vobblanker?

Have you tried AnyDVD and CloneDVD?

Hey binkie7. Thank you for the taking the time out to help me..
So... The Nero I use is Nero 6 ultra edition 6.6.0.1. I tried express like you said... I looked thru all of the configuration settings, and looked for where I could set it to DVD9 but couldn't find anything... I followed that link you gave me about ImageBurn, so I dl'd that. I tried there too, and it wasn't reading my DL DVDR. Thats what gave me the idea that my drive doesn't read them... but my drive is HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N is what it says in Decrypter. And yes I tried the files from VOB Blanker AND FixVTS for both ImageBurn and when I tried in Shrink too. I used my free trial for AnyDvd, and I dont have CloneDvd... The only burning softwares I have are Nero, ImageBurn, and Dvd Decrypter...
Thank you!

Not a problem mcelano83

Nope you don't have a dual layer burner. Your's is pretty old - only writes to +R max 4x. May be time for an upgrade - burners are pretty cheap.

Try doing movie only for this one - take the ripped files and use re author mode in Shrink. Or use Recode - main movie only.
You need an update to for Nero - package 2 and package 2.
Ignore the bit about latest stable being 9.2.6.0 - if you download that it's only a 15 trail and Nero 9 ain't that great at all.

Here's also 2 guides - one will show you how to blank out unwanted stuff in vobblanker - link.

The other is just a guide for DVDfab and vobblanker - link. The user interface has changed some on DVDFab since the guide was written but still good.

Thanks Binkie7! OK I went to upgrade the newest Nero. I clicked on upgrade and not free trial, but when it dl'd, it clearly was the trial version. OK I own Nero 6, with a serial and everything. I thought when you own/purchased a software, you upgrade with the same serial. You have to purchase each new upgrade?? That makes no sense... Right now it's asking me for the free trial serial number, but I dont want that. Ugghhhh. Did I dl the wrong thing??
And how much are burners? You said it'd be worth purchasing one since I have an older computer drive... what would you recomend? Thank you

Hmmm those updates should recognize your serial # already but since they don't type in your current serial # (open smart start look to the bottom right hand corner for an icon with a flame in it - click on that and one of the tabs will list the serial #).
Yes updates are free for the same version.

Updates for Nero 6 are hard to find too so if this still doesn't work maybe someone else here has a link for package 1 & 2. Or I have them and can upload them to rapidshare.

If you're in the US a good LiteOn or Pioneer runs less than $35 at newegg.com. In Europe/UK I'm pretty sure the prices would be pretty equivalent but someone from there would need to confirm.

Is your PC as old as this drive? Have you been keeping up on regular maintenance like disc defrag, disc cleanup (use ccleaner instead) and virus/spyware scans?

Hey binkie and creaky... I really appreciate you guys trying to help, but I had trouble with trying to dl the next available update for Nero. I currently had 6.6.0.1. When I clicked on the flame button with the options, I saw next to it it said next available version is 6.6.1.4. So from that link sent by Creaky, I scrolled down and looked for the 6.6.1.4, went to DL it, and just after the extracting stage, it failed and said "the installer has detected that another installation is running. please finish the first installation and start the installation again". I have no idea what this means, but there's nothing else running or trying to install. I tried a few times, and same error. Unless I'm supposed to go to the very bottom selection which is 7.5.1.1? I think I'm going to give up on this method... And yes my drive is as old as this laptop is. It's what came with it, I never upgraded the burner. I think I'm going to just hold out for a new laptop with a good burning drive already in it... As for now, I actually was able to get on my father's PC to take advantage of his nice DVDR DL compatible drive... I tried new Verbatim DVDR+DL(up to 8x) on ImageBurn at 2.4x, suggested by ImageBurn forum. They also said to use the straight files ripped from DvdFab, and that VOB Blanker/FixVTS were not neccessary. So when I uploaded the files and went to burn, the burning operation went successfully! With no errors! However, when I went to watch it, the picture was very fuzzy and scrambly. So that tells me it was the DvdFab... but it's relieving to know I've found the right media for ImageBurn. So what should I try next? Is there a setting in DvdFab I should be selecting? Or would VOB Blanker/FixVTS fix this? I remember when I WAS trying the FixVTS or VOB Blanker files the last several attempts, that when I went to preview the cells for the layer break position, that they were also scrambly and fuzzy, just like the finished product from the straight DvdFab files I just did now... Or do you think that I should try re-riping the movie with DvdFab on my father's PC's drive since the last files I tried burning were ripped from my laptop... What should I do? Thank you

Well you're getting there mcelano83!

I would re-rip the files on dad's pc and even try Shrink and burning to a single layer dvd.
