It just may not be compatible with the Armax or the PS2.

Note: The USB device MUST be inserted before running the disc!

Try another usb drive if you have one.

It explains all of this in the tutorial on installing fmcb 1.8 with Armax.

HI, i downloaded iso ar max evo with media player off the internet and bunt it into a cd, it works fine but when i put my pendrive to launch fceu.elf or fmcb it does not launch it just hangs in a black screen, and more over im confused if there's a problem with the file or something i got u launch.rar there is a uncompressed boot.elf and a boot elf, and esr beta has esr mcard.elf, esr direct dvd boot .elf
, the problem is it reads the files only in fmcb cfg folder and noting else WHEN I TRY TO PRESS INSTALL IN MAX MEDIA PLAYER IT FREEZES AND THEN DOES NOT RESPOND, PLS TELL ME WHERE IM GOING WRONG..

IT JUST FREEZES AFTER I BROWSE FMCB IN MAX MEDIA PLAYER WITH A BLACK SCREEN, AND IF POSSIBLE CAN YOU GIVE ME A LINK WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE FMCB SETUP FOR A PENDRIVE.. AND HOW I SHOULD PLACE THE FILES

There is no need for caps... read the forum rules. It makes it seem like you are "yelling"

How are you booting this backup of Armax?

If you can boot it, then you can probably install fmcb another way.

Just burn an ISO image of uLe, then use FILEBROWSER , choose :mass/

The files need to be in the root of the USB drive as below.
So the INSTALL FOLDER and FREE_MCBOOT.ELF are the only two files in the root of the drive.

All the files you need are here in this guide.
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/FMCBv1.8_for_dummies.html

Look for the noobie package, then scroll down to recommended apps, and download them.

Ok maybe try burning this uLe to disk, since that one didn't work.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/14/366481#4632058

That fellow couldn't use the 4.38 either.

Or you can try another usb drive. I am thinking it is not totally compatible is why its freezing.

Oh yeah btw, sorry for not paying attention to this thread.

Yeah I got FMCB installed perfectly now.

I actually asked for help at the official FMCB forums who kinda helped(More like gave me an idea that kickstarted it).

Heres the thread

http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/freevast...le-of-crap.html

My method was to

1. Burn ULaunchElf V4.38 DVD ISO onto a blank dvd.
2. Boot it with swap magic(Or whatever method you want to use)
3. Plug in any usb device and choose mass and click on FREE_MCBOOT.ELF

Worked perfect.

Well thanks for replying back.

Lol, I could have told that method but you never mentioned you have Swap Magic. Only that you had Armax and it couldn't see USB devices.

I use to boot up with the CDLoader and PS2 Exploit Disc. Thank god I found this method with FMCB. I went through the process of ARMAX with starting media player, swapping out to CDLoader disc I burnt, then to exploit disc. Pulled up the pendrive in the file browser and ran the FMCB file and it installed fine on normal install. I tried one game and it wouldn't work until I figured out I had to patch it with ESR. Did this removed the block for the cd drive I had on there, turned on system, went to ESR, says PS2DVD in drive and started game right up. This is so much easier than swapping disc, hitting the button here, the button there, jumping up and down 3 times, etc. crap. LOL.

I tried this on my Slim PS2 and my fat both. The fat even pulled up the games on HDD without problems and played them.

Xbox v1.6B modded with Xecuter 3 CE. 40GB Maxtor HDD
PSTwo Slim v14
Nintendo Gamecube Revision A - Qoob Pro
PSP Slim 2000 Modded with CFW 5.50 Gen-B
PS2 Fat Softmodded with FMCB
