-upadaed to 4.0FW

i upgraded from a 3.1U FW on my NTSC Wii (with Wiikey v1)...=)
Well I updated, used ciosrev9. Good newsis:Punchout and EA Sports work.
Bad news is: So far Mario Kart doesn't work anymore, Homebrew channel no longer loads, and when I click on SD Card on the bottom left or even try to go to Wii Data Management Screen it locks UP ????

Ok I RE-backed up Mario Kart thinking my disc might be bad. Same problem Wii doesn't recognize it. Also that was my Homebrew problem, Homebrew Channel will NOT load with Mario Kart in the Wii. I probably need to start a new Thread> Did anyone else try Mario Kart?

You should of installed preloader when you modded your wii. It has options/hacks that run to disable game updates, disc checks, etc.

If your Mario Kart is Trucha signed and your IOS's are not patched then this could cause your issue. IOS Downgrader will downgrade and patch all IOS to allow Trucha signed backups to run.

Get IOS Downgrader from HERE.

Place it in its own folder in the apps folder of the SD card (you will need to rename the IOS Downgrader dol file to boot.dol). Then run it through the Homwebrew Channel.

You will need WiFi for this step.

I have a d2ckey installed and Punchout starts up than gives me a black screen that says it can't read disc. What do I need to upgrade to run new games? I am not using a softmod. I did an update through the Wii. What next? I know nothing about softmods. Thanks in advance for helping a 48 year old bastard.

Is your system modded with a chip? If so, please let me know the version of the wii system menu which can be located in the system options.

It seems like you have a bad image. Reburn the game again at x4 or download another version.

Burned again with new iso. Works OK now. But I don't know if it was a bad iso or bad burn, but thanks for the help!

Hi everyone!

I was looking for a solution for updating from 3.1U to 4.0 (I´m usign a modchip)... and tried the procedure that Wiiman50 proposed.

It worked without any trouble at all!!!

- Installed HBC (using BannerBomb, REALLY EASY)
- Installed CIOS rev 9
- Used Wad Manager for Installing IOS60 trucha Patched
- Used WiFi to upgrade from 3.1U to 4.0U FW
- spent 10 of the most scary minutes of my life to finish the upgrade

Tried Mario Kart, SMG, SSB, Punch Out, the HomeBrew Channel and some wads!

Thanks a lot!

Thank you for trusting my advice as you seem to properly advocate the simple procedures listed. Not really hard at all mate.

Thanks for all the help and useful information.

I've been out of the "scene" for some time and am lost :-/

I have a Wii 3.1u with a Wasabit chip installed.

Should I upgrade to 4.0 and than install HBC to get Punch Out and I'm assuming all newgames working or should I install HBC and than upgrade to 4.0?

Thanks again for help and replies.

Hi guys,

sorry new to this. I have an jap wiikey modded version 1.9x. Was previously 3.2J but when i loaded punchout the system updated and is subsequently semi-bricked. Do not have homebrew. Still plays orignals and older backup games but not mario kart.
Anyone know of a quick fix? Not sure where to start.

Would appreciate the help thanks.

There is a section in this board in regards to bricks. You might want to look it up. If you cna't find it let me know and I will guide you to it. Semi Bricks are not that hard to fix anyways.

I hate to break it up to you buy you need to do some work such as updating to the latest update which is 4.0. These steps are relatively safe and should not mess with your homebrew but they are required to get punchout to work and any other newer games.

http://www.yafaze.com/wii/downloads.html

Download ISO60 trusha patched
CIOS REV 7

Both are wads that can be installed through wad manager and are required to play current games.

After you are done installing the wads, update your wii to 4.0. All your Homebrew channel stuff should be still in tact and the iso60 will prevent any further evil acts by Nintendo.
I tried this mention and it killed my Homebrew channel. Im still able to play some of my burnt copies but Punchout still isn't working.

Any other suggestions? and how can i fix my homebrew. it just goes black screen when i load it and kills the power in the wiimote.
