I was looking for a solution for updating from 3.1U to 4.0 (I´m usign a modchip)... and tried the procedure that Wiiman50 proposed.
It worked without any trouble at all!!!
- Installed HBC (using BannerBomb, REALLY EASY)
- Installed CIOS rev 9
- Used Wad Manager for Installing IOS60 trucha Patched
- Used WiFi to upgrade from 3.1U to 4.0U FW
- spent 10 of the most scary minutes of my life to finish the upgrade
Tried Mario Kart, SMG, SSB, Punch Out, the HomeBrew Channel and some wads!
Thanks a lot!
After doing some searching, reading, and catching up....
I too followed these instructions/steps and was able to get Punch Out to work. Thanks again to all that help and post useful info. :D
I just registered to let others know that I followed these steps, and I too was able to successfully update my Wii to 4.0, keep all HBC functionality, and Punch-Out is playing flawlessly!
I already had the HBC installed using the Twilight Hack, so I used larrylje's "NEW AND IMPROVED WII SOFTMOD GUIDE" sticky to download everything else I needed. His softmod pack is downloadable in the "Extra Steps" section, it contains both the cIOS rev13b and the IOS60 patched wad. I chose cIOS rev13 instead of rev9, since it's more up to date.
Once I installed cIOS rev13 and IOS60 patch (following the guide), I just went into the Wii System Menu and updated like normal. Now I have all the 4.0 system functions, as well as my Homebrew Channel and Backup Launcher Channel all functioning perfectly! I'm a noob, anyone can do it if you follow directions carefully... read the guide, take your time. Good luck and thanks to everyone who made this possible!
first of all, i have cios rev 13, patched ios16.wad, gecko os 1.9.1, and 4.0J (NTSC) other back ups work fine, but when i load punch out, it flashes a green screen and goes blank! i read through alot of forums and i have pretty much done everything that people have suggested.
the backup i used says its NTSC, but it also says its MULTI5, does that mean its pal instead? regardless, i am about to burn another copy to see if its the disc, but any suggestion will be appreciated!
