DVD43 is used as a "burning on the fly" software in this method. You would be burning straight from source video to your media. PS- have you thought about switching over to NTFS so you can handle larger files? You can try to go into Administrative tools > computer mgnt > Disk mgnt and do it from there, if this doesn't work you can use Partition Magic 8.0 for which (I think) there is a free trial. To work with DVD's you really need to be on the NTFsystem which will enable you to work with files up to 10g's.

Well, someone else said that too, so I did so research. And the site that I went to didn't recommend converting ME. So, I figured it's on a FAT system for a reason. So, I'm a little afraid to convert it.

I have Windows ME. But I just tried to go back and find what I read, and I think I misunderstood what it was saying. I'm still afraid to convert though. Did you convert?

I didn't have to, but I did on my old system, and I would have on this one if I had FAT32. You should be able to go into your help and support and type in FAT to NTFS and it will tell you what to do. I gave a rough outline earlier. There are threads in this forum to tell you how. It's really not near as complicated as it seems. In fact I think S. Pete did one not too long ago. TYpe the same thing in search in this forum. Check out PM-8.

ms_twana,
I Would love to see the site that told you not to upgrade to a newer and better filing system -
FAT32 to NTFS, is the right move - It's upgrading your PC -
FAT32 has been around since Windows 95 and has many limitations -
You have FAT32 and the 4 Gig ceiling is killing you right ?
You really want to backup your DVD's but your filing system is putting the "Kabash" on you so far -
Someone has told you, you must change something in OR on your HD and it's causing you to sweat bullets. It sounds MAJOR. It's not -
You haven't made a backup of your HD for a Long, long, really long time and you're worried that messing with your HD could ruin the world as you know it. - Well one of theses days you really need to backup your PC but for this operation, you'll be able to squeek by. Ya know, ya really do need to do that backup thingie (lol). But for now, it's not a problem. I haven't ever heard of anyone losing their PC or even a single file when upgrading FAT32 to NTFS, It's the right move -
No worries mate, you're just a little bit behind the times is all -
No trouble converting your HD from FAT32 to NTFS, it's safe and fast.-
Hey, take a second and learn something about it -
This is a good place to start, it compares both file systems and their performance -
http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs_vs_fat.htm
(Be sure to check the comparison of the 2 at the bottom of the page) -
Ok, feel better ? You're about to be brought into the light -
This program is called Partition Magic 8 is simple and easy and best of all - you download the trial version so it costs you Nada, Zip, Zilch as in free. (It's a good thing, right ? Yep, you bet.)
http://www.soft32.com/download_151.html
Ya feel better working in the Command window - No worries either,
Check Cozza (a cool "Down-Under" member from back at the beginning of time), he will give you the "Skinny" right here -

OK, you should be set.
Any questions, stop back and we'll try to help :P)
Cheers,
Pete

Pete, were you reading my mind or something????? Okay, I'll look over the stuff and think about it. I didn't realize my computer was outdated. It worked fine for what I wanted to do with it, until now. I got it from WalMart like 4 years ago. Guess it is time for an upgrade, huh!!! (lol)
Big, let me guess, your in Knoxville????

I just re-formatted my PC in order to to clean up the system after 1 year of adding and subtracting programs - When I installed my XP program my C: drive was in the FAT32 file mode so I converted it to NTFS - and yet again lost Zero files -
Go ahead, you'll be glad you did :-)

Good question - I know for a fact it's good on 2000, NT and XP, I'm not sure about ME.
I'll check into it - and get back to you -
cheers,
Pete

Hiya All,
No go on ME - FAT32 only.
If you want NTFS, but are happy/comfortable with the look & feel of ME, the only option is Win2000 (personal favourite).
If you choose the XP route, get the Pro version (not Home).
Have a play with an XP system before commiting yourself to it, I think you would find it confusing after ME.
Hope this helps...
