Father charged over infamous Facebook picture in which child is gagged

21-year-old Chicago resident Andre Curry has been arrested an charged with battery less than a week after he posted a picture on Facebook of his child with bound wrists, ankles, and tape over her mouth.
The caption for the photo said "This is wut happens wen my baby hits me back. ;)" The girl is reportedly just 22 months old.

And you call me stupid and/or illiterate!!! You are a fool and a joke.
Maybe violent crime has decreased over the last 10 years but you are the only one that is holding on to that time frame. The anti corporal punishment has been strong for 60 yrs so you need to compare before that time or is that concept beyond you? You don't seem to be getting it at all.
The short term decrease is probably due to more cops on the street.

hey 49.5% of all statistics are made up.lol.keola,you sound like you have had just enough education to screw you up.for someone who eschews violence like you say,you are getting awfully hot under the coller.a smack on the ass when i was bad as a child in no way made me a screwed up adult.i spanked my kids and they turned out even better.how did your kids turn out?please forget the night course in psychology and get real.we are not advocating beating the shit out of our kids here.and really,when it comes right down to it, that is not what this thread is all about now is it?

For all of you who are opposed... you obviously don't have a two year old. Ok that was a joke. I too think this was an attempt at a joke (at least I'm hoping... it is Christmas after all) and if I saw a pic like this that one of my friends took I would think it was funny but to post in on your facebook is totally stupid. People are only going to see the bad side of the image and not the joke or silliness . I've taken silly pictures with my kids that my friends and family thought was funny because they know me but if you saw these pictures you would think I was a terrorist working for Al Qaeda.

Ok ok ok enough of the jokes. The facebook guy certainly took it a bit far even if he was joking and perhaps my shenanigans aren't as bad as I'm letting on. If it wasn't a joke I hope they throw the book at him but if they check the baby and don't see any other form or abuse then it's going to be hard to convict him of too much. Hopefully he learned his lesson.

DC crime rate 1960-2010
Here is the DC crime rate. This only goes back 50 yrs instead of the more that 60 but you can see crime goes up while population goes down. People left the city because it was not safe. It may have gone down some in recent years because the put more cops on the street but it isn't like it was in the 60s.
There are many persons that would say spanking a child is beating them. I am gland to hear you are not one of those. Reasonable persons would agree that corporal punishment ought to have bounds. I do not believe you should give out any kind of corporal punishment when you are angry.
