Quote: I think it's because of the way it was initially burned. Usually a DVD has many different "TITLES". (Some have up to 10-titles). But this "Trigun" DVD has about 45-different stories...BUT ONLY ONE TITLE!
See if DVD Decrypter can rip the movie. Rip it in file mode. Open Decrypter, click Mode then File F.

Flip218,
by any chance, do you know of any freeware to backup your personal games? (PS2, X-Box, Game Cube, etc...).

I don't :-( ... Never tried. If you do backup games, you'll need to get a hardware mod chip.

Just purchased a DVD burner and guess what, I haven't burned a DVD yet. I have DVD Shrink and every time I try to rip I get windows "illegal operation - this program will close". This must be something pretty simple and I have trouble with simple things. Any help on this?

Jonron,
I'm not totally sure about this...but I believe that you'll also need to download DVD Decrypter to work "in conjunction" with DVD Shrink.
DVD Shrink compresses the information so that you can place 7Gb of info into a 4.7Gb DVD. And then DVD Decrypter has the "CCS decryption technology" to "rip" the information from a copyrighted DVD.
Make sure you are ONLY backing-up your own personal DVD's!!!

no, you don't need dvd decrypter. dvd shrink can decrypt also. Try ripping the dvd to your hd with dvd decrypter first, then run the files through dvd shrink and see if you still get the error. also compact, dvd decrypter (in iso mode) will burn ps2 games.

jonron,
It's nice to have DVD Decrypter ... for two reasons. 1) So you can rip the movies Shrink cannot(doesn't happen very much, but can happen)
2) Shrink doesn't burn on it's own ... It needs Nero or Decrypter to burn.
Also most pc's with burners come with an oem version burning software. Most of the time you can use it to burn video_ts files.

I was able to rip the DVD to my hd and tried to burn with Nero and was stopped because the file was to large for the media. I understand this but how do I burn with Nero or do I need some other program. I will try to burn with DVD Shrink. On burning DVD's I own, my fear is something happening to the original (child abuse, etc.) so this is for my own archives. I'll let you know the results of my DVD Shrink attemp. Thanks all for your help.

This is progress - but not there just yet, still need help. I ripped the DVD with DVD Decrypter in file mode with no problem. I next run DVD Shrink and find the files - so far so good - then when I click on burn I get the message "encountered error connot continue - there is not enough space on your target device" then below this meassage it says Space required 4,463mb Space available in folder 3,913mb. I am using a Verbatum 4.7gb blank media. Where do I go from here?

Just had to take some time off from this @#&! burning. I am running a Pentiun III 500 Mhz 20gb hd Windows 98. I almost made it on my last attempt, got down to the burn stage using Nero and it burned 1 audio file - the DVD burner opened and that was it. I had ripped with DVD Decripter - run DVD Shrink and was trying to burn the files with Nero. to many hours on this is waring me down. The software that came with the DVD burner is from Roxio but when I try to install it I get a message that my system does not support this program. This is turning out to be a nightmare. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

jonron,
With a 20gig hd, how much free space do you have? I'm with Sly ... I think you don't have enough space.
Can you check your virtual memory?

I have 383meg of memory and 7.19gb of HD space. I just tried to burn again with Nero and when it failed the message I got was COULD NOT PERFORM START OF "DISK-AT-ONCE". Does this give any clues as to what might be going on. This is a real puzzle for me, as you can tell I have no experience with DVD burning. I DO appreciate everyones efforts.
