I just downloaded DVD Shrink 3.2. Afterwards, my CD/DVD burner (8x for Dell Inspiron 8600) stopped working. When I put in a DVD or CD (audio or data) it does not recognize it and indicates that the disc drive is empty when I attempt to open it and says to insert a disc. Also, I can no longer use the eject button on the burner but instead have to go to "My Computer" and select "eject" after right-clicking on the D: folder. Any suggestions? Thanks!
where did you get DVD Shrink from? Wasn't a peer to peer site was it?
Maybe try to uninstall, check if everything's back to the way it was before and reinstall. If that doesn't work, try to download it again, maybe you got a corrupt download or something (rare but it could happen).
Also, did you install any other software at around the same time as you installed Shrink? Like Nero, Sonic, or Roxio?

Thank you for your reply. I got DVD Shrink from a friend on whose computer it seems to work fine. I did uninstall it, after which the burner still didn't work. I re-downloaded and re-installed it but that didn't help either.
I also downloaded Nero 6.0.0.11 at the same time (sent to me by the same person). After I downloaded Nero and DVD Shrink, I tried to open Nero, at which time a message popped up saying that some components of this program were incompatible with my operating system (Windows XP SP2). So I uninstalled Nero first and then tried to use DVD Shrink at which point I realized that my burner wasn't working anymore. I uninstalled and re-installed DVD Shrink and that's when I gave up last night.
Also, I already had Sonic RecordNow! version 7 on my computer to begin with.
OK, check to see if you have the programs called DLA and/or InCD installed. They are both nuisances that can cause your drive(s) to act up. DLA comes with Sonic and InCD comes with Nero.
What they are is packet writing software, allowing you to just drag and drop stuff onto your CD/DVD drive and it will burn as you drag and drop. Sounds good, but they access your drive constantly whether or not they're used and can lock up your drive (sound familiar?) and cause errors when burning or ripping. Best to just get rid of 'em if you have 'em.

Thanks for all your help! I finally got the DVD burner to work after restoring my system to the day I installed both programs. Nero seems to have been the problem as DVD Shrink appears to be working. Now I get to figure out how to use it. :)
